The rapper DMX was arrested at a Phoenix shopping mall Saturday on suspicion of giving a false name and Social Security number to a hospital to avoid paying for medical expenses, The Associated Press reported. Sheriff Joe Arpaio (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/a/joseph_m_arpaio/index.html?inline=nyt-per) of Maricopa County said that when DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, went to the Mayo Clinic (http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/organizations/m/mayo_clinic/index.html?inline=nyt-org) in Scottsdale, Ariz., in April, he used the name Troy Jones and failed to pay a $7,500 bill.
