Former Spartanburg football coach Doc Davis was inducted into the Hall of Fame on Sunday night.

Guys like former Clinton football coach Keith Richardson and Summerville football coach John McKissick were there along with many others.
“I sat there and thought, ‘Man, I don’t know if I’m supposed to be in this group or not,’ ” Davis said by phone on Wednesday. “I’m just flattered to be mentioned in the same breath as some of those guys.”

Being a Spartanburg native, I can tell you that not only was Doc Davis a class individual who led a great Sptbg High program in the '90's. He was also was a very successful coach at Chapman High School as well. Congrats, Coach Davis!

This is a well-deserved honor. Doc is a good football coach, but more importantly, he is is good man! My son and his stepson were friends, and it afforded me the opportunity to see him from a closer perspective... he is a man of superlative character.
