What do you mean 'convert DVD to computer' are you asking... How to save a movie on dvd to your hard drive. How to play a dvd on your computer, how to turn a dvd a dvd into a computer. I don't think Sneez is being a jackass, I just don't think you have your question worded well. What are you trying to accomplish.

So you are essientially saying you want to rip your DVD contents onto the Hard Drive of your computer, correct? You are going to need a program to do that. Unfortunately, most of them aren't free, and while a few offer trial versions, they tend to leave stupid watermarks and that sort.

When I sober up, I'll see what I can find, as I need one myself. I have access to a buttload of serials, and I could probably find a program and get it for free and send you one in return. There are also probably some basic ones floating around as well. Google is your friend here... try googling the following terms and you may find something to your liking:

DVD Rip
DVD Ripper
Movie Rip
DVD Ripping

Again, I'll try to get back when I'm sober. But for now, try those, and you may get lucky. Oh, and don't go clicking on links with sideadvisor, if you know what that is. If you don't, download it, it's your best friend when googling.

Check out DVDfab Decrypter. That will rip the files and save them to a folder on your hd. Don't save as an .iso unless you're planning on burning again right away. As far as I know, there's not a program that will open and play an .iso file.

i've never actually used auto guardian knot, but if you want it on your computer you'll probably want to rip it from the dvd then enode it as an avi file so its not using up as much space while maintaining quality. there might be a better way, but i havent really updated my encoding techniques of late.

if you just want to keep the whole dvd on your computer then dvdshrink or dvd decrypter. below is a video tech site with guides. click guides on the left side, then dvd/mini dvd, then it will show the dvd backup guide section. using dvdshrink once you put the disc in your drive it will analyze it for 5-10 minutes for quality purposes, then once you've started ripping it to the hard drive, maybe an hour.

That will create a virtual cd/dvd drive in which you can open/run an iso file from your hard drive just as if it were a real cd/dvd -without burning it.

AGK is a good program. Super C encoder is also a good one.

Basically, cack, if you're trying to "rip" the DVD then be able to watch it on your laptop by clicking a file, you need to use a ripping software, like DVDFab decrypter, then use AGK (crowcutta's first link) to encode to an .avi file. XviD or DivX format. To play it, you may need to download those codecs, just google XviD DivX codec pack.

Beware though, if you have a semi-slow PC, it can take a good while to convert the raw dvd files (video_ts folder) to a watchable .avi file.

If you just want to watch it, rip the vobs and use VLC media player to watch. The only thing I convert anymore is if I want to put it on my Ipod. Super is a great program for that.

oh yeah whole dvd if we're not talking home movie is 4.5 gb, but if you encode it to an avi file 1.4 gb or 700 mb. at least a couple hours, but if space is an issue and even if its and you have the time and dont plan on making copies its the way to go.

Cack, download handbrake. if you have Windows you may also need to download DVD43 (http://www.dvd43.com/). if you have a MAC it should work right away. that's what i use and it works VERY well. i have over 50 movies files i've ripped, put into iTunes and onto my iPod.
