Calling ALL graphic designers.....

I'm not sure if this is the right thread. I was going to post this in Gamecock Multimedia but it's not Gamecock related.

I'm looking for someone who would be willing to create a logo for my band. I just need something with the band name, probably black font. Something real simple. My band name is Mercy's Craft. We are the worship band at my church in Gilbert.

This will be used on our myspace page. Can anyone help? If not, that's totally cool. Just thought I'd throw it out there. I know we have a few very gifted artists on this board.

How do you want it too look? Like do you want just the name or do you want some artistic value to it?

Right now, i'm more looking for an eye-catching logo with just the words Mercy's Craft. The Beatles and Aerosmith had that one way their name was 'written'. Maybe the "t" in Craft could be a cross that also completes the "f" in Craft. maybe the outline/shape of a sparrow could be incorporated...

just a few ideas I had...any ideas, thoughts, comments are welcome!

i'm having a case of designer's block right now which isn't cool because i'm working on a few other projects, but i decided to see if helping you out could warm me up a tad. the design is very simple but could be effective. if you had any of your own ideas, just let them be known. i also did a custom wordmark sketch, but i haven't vectored it yet...not sure if i will have the time. anyhow:

Cola, I love the simplicity of it!! both the primary and secondary logos!!! Very nice work!!!!! We'll be in touch. I'd like to get the design and stuff so we could get some tshirts printed. I'll run it by the guys and get back to you!

A little update. Same basic idea but this was my original sketch, so it is a more custom font...anyways, just to see what you think.

Dude...that is so sick!!! Is it possible to make the font a little 'thicker'? And maybe the larger cross in between Mercy's and Craft to separate them a little more. Also, how would the two smaller crosses look on each side, below the larger cross? I love the color schemes!

another update. i made the stroke thicker on the ones above and introduced a different brush stroke along with a variation of that one just to give some options. anyhow, this is kind of different for me because i usually deal with really crisp and clean logos...but i felt like since this was for a band, it could use a little bit of edge...even for a christian praise band, which has every opportunity to be "hip" as any other genre.

The new ones scream "hey check out the default stroke sets I used in adobe illustrator."

The clean lines are nicer in my book anyways. Often less is more. Of the new three the top one is best. The last one is way too much.

*edit. The sparrow was a nice mark by the way. It had potential.

while i don't disagree (although that isn't a default stroke anyways), you must remember that a client is totally clueless about this issue. they don't know a brush stroke from each element being totally custom...it is irrelevant to them as long as they embrace what they are seeing.

anyhow, i am going to work on a few more ideas since ive got a bit of free time...some similar to the current and some maybe a bit different.

I can't tell them apart from the strokes that come packaged with illustrator. Vector doesn't handle that look very well in my opinion. You're trying to make something look random (like a paint stroke) through mathematical equation.

Your client might not know that comic sans and papyrus are abominations as fonts, but it is your duty to not give them something in said fonts.

This being said the first stoke looks miles better than the other two to me.

The lowercase a is kind of weird since the rest of the letters are uppercase.

edit: btw i really liked Ranger's and Cola's logo designs, especially the first 'three crosses' logo you posted and the headphone/cross design is really well thought out

This is cool, but I like the 3 cross concept you came up with before. I'd just like to see a few different fonts and different placement of the crosses, so the Mercy's and Craft have space in between them.
