Does anyone know how to turn this off? Just started happening with my google searches. It starts a drop down menu that "suggests" your search. Extremely annoying.

if you are using IE you need to go to tools>internet options>content>autocomplete settings and disable it

No, it's a new feature for google that started today. It's called Google Suggest. It is the same as autocomplete but extremely annoying.

They said go to your google preferences page and go to the "Query Suggestion" section and disable it. Problem is, I don't have a "Query Suggestion" section.

Anyone? I would hate to stop using google after so many years.

Just started with me too, within the last hour or so.

It was doing it for me the other day and then stopped. I also can't seem to find an option to turn it on or off.

I have been starting to use Microsoft's http://live.com more. They change their picture every day and for whatever reason I like this.

Just checked - Does it to me out of igoogle but not in igoogle. So get igoogle - igoogle is a great homepage to use anyways.

*Edit. I see query suggestions in preferences in regular google btw.

To the right of the google search bar>preferences >query suggestions (3/4's way down the page)

Found it Chuck

Go to Google Home page.
Just to the right of the entry box where you type in your serch, there's three small options listed in blue. Click Preferences. There's a section there called Query Suggestions section where you can disable that. I just took care of mine.

And you can add the http://www.cockytalk.com/rss.php to your iGoogle and see the last posts.

I still don't have it in my preferences, but now in classic Google it has started doing the suggest. Must be rolling out the new code to servers in a staggered manner.

I still don't have the "query suggestions" section in preferences. Are they rolling that out in phases too?

May be
I just clicked preferences and it was the bottom setting option in the list. It had the language section, the Adult search level number of search results per page etc. . . then the bottom section was Query Suggestions. Two option: Allow suggestions in the search menu or Not allow.
I clicked Not allow and it stopped the auto suggest list

if you use firefox, just add the search widget to the top right of your browser...that is what i always use to search google, ebay, urbandictionary, wikipedia, facebook, dictionary.com, youtube...i never go to the actual page when i just want to do a search.

It appeared for me around 10:30. They have so many servers it probably just took awhile to propagate.
