A friend of mine's wife just traded a Trailblazer for the Arcadia. He drove it on a trip to Florida. He likes it but one thing he said he hated was it seemed to hunt for a gear all the time on the Highway going up and down hills. He said that gets really annoying.

i need an suv for work, but i want something with decent gas mileage

i saw an acadia on the road the other day and it looks pretty good

someone i know told me he was shocked how solid of a car the edge is ...

it will be a while before i trade. im sure i will need to get something used, prob a program car ... its really hard for me to justify a new car ($)

personally, I'd go with the Edge....it's a sharp lookin' vehicle. I used to have a Grand Cherokee and it's real nice for long travels...rides real good, handles well, and decent MPG. Another one that's surprising is the Buick Enclave. My mother has one, and it's much nicer than I would've thought.

If gas mileage is a concern stop looking at the Arcadia. I haven't personally driven an Edge, but the Freestyle was a VERY good crossover and they share most mechanical components. And IIRC it got like 20 in the city, 30 on the highway.

there is an Acadia in my family and they love it. Me personally, Toyota girl but the times i have ridden in the Acadia it has been a nice ride. Nothing overly long though.

The freestyle was a piece of junk. Thats why they stopped making it after one year. The transmission kept going out on people.

The edge however is a nice vehicle. It is better on gas then the acadia as well.

(oh, and I know a few things about these vehicles. I work with Enterprise).

Actually, while ford is still battling a bad reputation, they are making better quality vehicles right now.

Jaybez, I can guarantee you that if it comes to a discussion in cars, RGH knows his stuff. He is a walking wikipedia about autos.

I really like the Acadia. Chevrolet is coming out with the fourth version of that platform later this year called the Traverse. It's basically the same car but Chevy has taken the styling to a whole other level as the other 3 (Acadia, Outlook, Enclave).

I have always been a Chevy guy. Tried to talk my wife into a Tahoe back in January but she was in love with the Grand Cherokee Limited. Pretty nice truck but not so great on the mpgs.

so does the edge have power if it gets good MPG?

does the edge have tranny issues?

According to Motortrend, the Edge gets 16/24 mpg. It also says that the Acadia gets 16/24 mpg. The only thing I could find as far as issues with the Edge are quality issues like bearings, bent wheels, i.e. typical lemon type stuff. The Edge is smaller than the Acadia so I would imagine it performs a little bit better because of the lower curb weight. The Acadia is roughly the same size as a Yukon if not a little bit bigger. The Edge is more in the Explorer-size range.

Service Advisor, Ford Dealer here . . .

Ford Edge is the best vehicle FoMoCo has. We have several in our rental fleet. After a few days in one its remarkable the number of customers come in to buy one.

Repair related issues. . . so far so good - nothing of importance seen

I took a look at a lot of crossovers when I was shopping for a new car earlier this year, and I fell in love with the Edge, I've never heard of the Acadia though. In the end though I hated the 16mpg that all the regular crossovers had so I got a 4 cyl crossover
