DLC = Downloadable Content
LBP is a game where you create, share, and play other people's levels. All through a YouTube-like service through PSN. It's physics-driven as well.
You get 50+ levels on disc where you play through a story, and then you can create levels and share them online from within the game.
Here's a developer (Well... producer. Kyle is the US producer for the game) walkthrough (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/39506.html), you can also look through more of the videos on GameTrailers.

The art style may not be mature to the same level of a shooter. I don't think kids will be able to create levels that are deep and fun to play without design flaws.
You can make it whatever you want. You can make a level based on Super Mario levels, Killzone levels, Halo, etc.
They have Helghast (Killzone antagonists) costumes in the game.
The story is "kiddy" though. It plays out like a children's novel with the narration.

Anybody here in the beta?
20,000 people in NA, Japan, and Europe (20,000 per) are receiving codes. I'm not one of them, but I have gotten my hands on the beta because I know a member of the press who has it.
The negative is I gotta use his account... and he often has his PS3 on.

if/when i get a ps3, i'm sure i'll get this game....might not turn out to be the best game ever, but it sure looks "different" (which will probably make it great, truth be told).

This game is going to be one of the sole reasons that a lot of ppl make the move over to the ps3. It looks pretty cool.

this game does look pretty cool and again, if/when i get a ps3 i'm definitely grabbing a copy, but i just can't see this as being a console maker. it's going to sell well, IMO, but i don't see a mass exodus towards the ps3 just because of this game.

It will be.
In Europe, LittleBigPlanet shops are opening up, the rush for beta codes is crashing websites (Eurogamer.net went down for a while), and Sony will heavily push this game on TV.
This is a game that appeals to everybody.
Sony will market Resistance 2 too coming November 4th, but LBP will see a huge marketing campaign. Thr advertisements will start soon.
Have you seen the LittleBigBillboards?

forgive me if i wait and see if this is, indeed, the bestest game in the ultraverse before i agree that it's a console maker.
i'm sure it's gonna be a very fun game though.

I'm just going by from what I've heard from 360 owners themselves. A lot of ppl I know personally that have a 360 only are thinking of grabbing a ps3 mostly for this game. It's just one of those games that really appeals to everyone and I'm happy for sony. They finally have a game that can really help market the ps3 and because it isn't a shooter game they aren't alienating a lot of potential customers.

hopefully it will work out for them (sony). competition is a good thing for everybody (microsoft/sony).

This. People always underestimate the value of competition on the market. Without competition, you'd probably still see the PS3 sitting at an insane price and Microsoft probably wouldn't give a damn about actually curing the RROD. It's part of what makes our economy run.

I'm in the beta. It's a pretty cool game, very fun, and I encourage everyone to give it a try if you have a PS3.
Would I buy a PS3 for this game? Probably not...
I'm not sold on it being a guaranteed success, or even a system seller. It certainly has the potential to be both, as it is a great idea and it is executed very well. But i can easily see this turning into a great game that lots of people dismiss as "too kiddy" like Viva Pinata.
But here's hoping it sells well. I'm buying it.

Just played through the X360 RROD level. Pretty funny, but it's a very stupid and shallow level. The WipEout level is awesome.

Yes.
In fact, WipEout HD was just released on the PlayStation Store Thursday (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/39814.html). So I'm guessing they made it due to the recent release.
Online play, offline multiplayer, single-player, trophies, custom soundtracks, and 1080p @ 60 frames/sec play.

yeah, i knew that they released a new wipeout. i was never a fan of the original, but it's pretty cool that they made a LBP level out of it.
