i bought the warranty thingy from eb games, so i always just turned it in and got a new one with no questions asked. wasn't really a hassle at all.

got mine with the first batch that ever came out and it was fine up until about 6 months ago, and then i got the ring of death. I sent it in and the turn around was pretty quick. I haven't had any problems with it since I got it back.

As bad as this sounds, I wish I would get the RROD. My Xbox continues to freeze within 5 minutes of turning it on and no red ring. I am about ready to see the red lights so I can get a new one in the mail.

I will never buy an X360. I don't buy incompetence. You can choose to support incompetence, but I don't do that. Plus with all the nickel and diming Microsoft does after you buy the system, it's not worth it financially.

I was a fan of the original Xbox... after the Xbox launch, everything has gone downhill for MS. Cutting standard features on the successor, abruptly screwing over their customers by discontinuing support of a recently-created product, nickel and diming consumers to death, lack of hardware reliability, and management has been very arrogant and dismissive of customer complaints.


When confronted with the RROD issue, Peter Moore said, "Things break." as he dismissed the interviewers claims. It wasn't until they were threatened with litigation did they extend the warrant for RROD only.

All because they didn't care for the consumer or their name enough to make sure they have a well-built product from the get go. They lost sight of what's important, so they have lost my, along with many others', support.

I don't consider the X360 a great system... for the reasons mentioned in my previous post.

I don't pay to play online, I don't pay outrageous costs for proprietary hard drives, I don't pay 100 dollars for wi-fi (which I always use with PS3), I don't need the hassle of worrying whether my console will work, and so on.

I get the X360 "exclusives" on PC and call it a day (In fact, I use my SIXAXIS to play them on PC.).

folks do seem to get worked up quite a bit when positive things about the 360 are said.....funny how most 360 users are willing and able to lump praise onto the ps3 though.

If you have had 7 go bad... then I would think its something you are doing wrong... are you leaving them on all night, or is it in a media cabinet with no ventilation? I had my original 360(got it on launch morning) up until a few months ago when it got the RROD but it could of been my fault since I modded it. So now I'm on #2 the elite. My brother is on his 3rd one... but he leaves his on 24/7 sometimes, so hes just asking for it.

not necessarily....i went through 5 of them myself, and i am very careful with all of my electronics. never left the 360 on overnight, had it in a spot with plenty of ventilation, etc.

I bought an RCA Video/Music player years and years ago. When I opened it, the volume button stopped working. So I returned it to the store, and got a free replacement. A few days later, the volume button stopped working on that one too.

I returned it to the store, got a refund, and bought an alternative.

When there are alternatives, you don't need to put up with incompetence. Especially when in the Microsoft case, their incompetence was due to intentionally gimped testing procedures.

I've gotten many people to dump their RROD-ing X360 and buy a PS3, and now they're recommending the PS3 adamantly to everybody in the video game market. There's no need to put with incompetence, especially when the alternative is going to be better.
