View Full Version : Clemson Offensive Scheme

Well, with the craziness happening this week, do we have any idea what type of offense Dabo is going to run?
With Spence getting canned the way he did by Dabo, I can bet he took every playbook of his offense with him.
Is there still enough left around for Dabo to run the remnants of Spence's spread or do you think we will see something different. And 4 days to prepare that offense for GT is kinda scary.
Thoughts?

I just told a clemson associate that Dabo should run a bubble screen the first play. GT would never expect it! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:: rotfl:

Yeah, I forgot about that.
Spence's playbook had exactly 2 pages~~~

seriously though....with j.ford and a.kelly split wide on each side....one of the two, if not both, deserve double teams or major safety support from behind. then factor in j.davis and cj cpiller....the possibilities are endless.
they should literally line up in the "wild cat" formation every single down and rotate between ford davis and spiller. you telling me those 3 kids....all 4.3 40ydd kids at least......they cant get 10 yards?
if spurrier....hell....if dennis the menace was coaching all those talented kids he'd have a more successful team. more td. more yds. more clock control.
its amazing they cant figure this out. use the tools

Dabo is a former Alabama player, correct? Methinks he's going to shift to a more conventional offense that's run-first and prolly lots of play-action. As in, probably what they should have been running the last 8 years or so?
Guess we'll find out this weekend against GT....

I hope they make wholesale changes to their offense...they've beaten us 7 out of the last 9 games with TB in control...so hopefully we'll be able to stop Dabo's.

Spiller isn't playing this week. So...there goes that option!

I say they run a power I with only the sweep play and the out and up to defend.
That would help.

From what I gathered, Dabo wants to go back to the "smash mouth" of the Ford years...I just don't think that decimated Oline can do it though...he may have to keep some sort of spread with Korn at the helm.

The only thing "smashmouth" that Clemson knows is what Bama showed 'em in the first game of the year.

As Lee Corso would say....
NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND!
You have obviously forgotten about McDaniel!

The playbook wasn't the problem, it was the play calling.
It should be the same basic scheme with a new guy calling the plays.

It should be the same basic scheme with a new guy calling the plays....Thats the only way they can go right now....Cant change up to a smash mouth or run type offense now...They do not have those type players...It will take them a couple of recruiting classes to beable to get that done.....I do think you will see more toss sweeps and pure screen passes to Davis and Spiller...maybe a few play action passes in the short routes...Maybe a few deep balls even tho Cullen does not have the arm for that.....I also think you gonna see Korn playing a lot more in situations where they feel they can run a little option...

Korn is starting because they don't have a little blocking. He is better at running away from the defensive rush

I'd start using the vertical passing game a lot more since James Davis and CJ Spiller can't run behind that pathetic OL. You have a big receiver in Aaron Kelly who can go up and get the ball, a speedster in Jacoby Ford who can stretch the field and possession receivers like Faerber and the other little white dude whose name escapes me right now. They should have been doing that all along since they can't get their running game going vs. decent defenses.. problem is Cullen Harper has the arm of Proctor. Korn probably has the arm for the vertical passing game, and if things break down around him he can scamble or move around in the pocket, unlike Harper. Bowden and Spence were just complete idiots running that offense. They kept doing things that didn't work over and over again... idiots.

Harper hasn't been able to get it done this season. The OL hasn't helped him any but he isn't helping the OL either. Korn's mobility should help too.

The other little white dude is Tyler Grisham, and I wouldn't put Faerber in there because he isn't reliable.

I disagree there. Harper's arm is a lot better than Proctor.

With the talent they have I would put the QB under center and use more of a play-action type of passing game. They shouldn't abandon the running game just yet, they have the talent to make it happen.
