Shooting Guard from Lexington, South Carolina

I dont think he has any offers yet but he is getting interest from USC.

He doesnt have a Rivals bio yet.

Probably the #1 player in the state for 2012.

Lexington High rising sophomore Shaq Rowland, a two sport prospect in football and basketball, picked up his first basketball offer last week from Presbyterian College. He was given the verbal offer while attending a basketball camp at PC. Rowland has a football offer from USC.

I heard that our best chance to land him was as a basketball prospect.
Not sure why.
I'd take him at either sport.

What are we going after him for as a football prospect?

i think he is like a double prospect, although he has a great chance to end up as the number 1 basketball recruit in his class in the state

If there is a good chance he will be the number one prospect in the state, I hope we offer him sooner, rather than later. We should sign the top 2 prospects in SC each and every year.

Watched him play tonight. He is a freak on the court, had a monster dunk over a 6'8 kid from australia tonight. He is 6'2 and plays way above the rim.

The biggest problem I see for us going after him is we will only have 1 scholly in his year if noone transfers or leaves early, and we may go after that 6'8 guy from Sumter or Jordan Roper from Irmo(Shaq is better imo).

I do know that Shaq has said he would commit to us if he got an offer to play both sports at USC.

No problem with scholarship numbers if he committed to play both sports - per NCAA regs, he would have to be awarded a football scholarship if he played both.

True however if he isnt allowed to play both sports here at USC then he would most likely not come. Atleast thats what I'm hearing atm.. Things could change in 2 years tho.

He wants to play both but his favorite school in Miami. He hasnt been offered from them yet but thats been his favorite school while growing up. He likes the fact that the SEC is elite in football but dosent like how the SEC is not a top 3 conference in bball. It goes for the same thing in ACC also. He likes elite conference in bball and dosent like how the ACC is elite in football. He really is a toss up.

Lexington plays Friday in Charleston at The Citadel for the Lower-State Championship against Goose Creak. Winner goes to the 4A State Championship in Columbia played in the Colonial Life Arena.

He outshined Bruce Ellington last week in the basketball playoff game. This kid is a monster, best I've ever seen in person.

Since it sounds like you know this guy, what's his family like? To me, it's always good for the Gamecocks if we can play the "mama can come to all of your games" card.
