I've never heard of prog-grass. I just checked out Punch Brothers, awesome! Great band! Got any other good prog-grass bands?

I'm not a big fan of prog jam, so you probably won't get any suggestions from me.

Do you like the Dillinger Escape Plan? I would categorize them as prog-hardcore and they use a ton of mixed meter. They have some jazz influence.

Karnivool's new album Asymmetry has a ton of mixed meter (and poly-rhythms galore on top of it).

I've been listening to a lot of Amplifier recently. The have an album called Echo Street that is influenced by the music of the 90s (their childhood) and a lot of it is reflection on their childhood.

The best of the Djent scene has a lot of good musicians in it. I'd look into Periphery or Animals as Leaders. They have some good rhythmic stuff, and some of the best guitarists in the industry.

Battles is a great instrumental prog band. They use a ton of mixed-meter.

Crippled Black Phoenix is a good band with some punk and indie influences.

The Von Hertzen Brothers have some good stuff. They are borderline prog rock.

Last one...haha. I like Shearwater. They have some folk influence. Great lyrics.

Check out some of Steven Wilson's other projects like No-Man, Blackfield, or Storm Corrosion. Oh, speaking of Storm Corrosion, Opeth (post 2000) has some good proggy stuff.

NP man! Are you talking about the Raven that Refused to Sing? I always thought that it was an interesting concept. Insurgentes, though, has everything that I love about Steven Wilson in it. I'm not that big of a fan of his second solo album though.

Are you planning to join a local firm in Greenville or are you going elsewhere.

Haha, nah. It's from the legendary man himself, Barney Stinson from "How I Met Your Mother".
