Right now we have the #3 class in the country, 2nd in SEC and #1 in the East.

2013 - 21st in country, 10th in SEC, 5th in East
2012 - 17th in country, 7th in SEC, 4th in East
2011 - 13th in country, 6th in SEC, 3rd in East

So around 4th in the East in talent (sounds about right to me) with absolutely NO coaching stability, player retainment or player development.

Right now we are recruiting at an absolutely elite level, retaining our coaches and HOPEFULLY will begin to actually develop our players which hasn't happened at Tennessee since the early 2000's.

This staff has a history of developing talent and having their record improve over the years they are at a school.

If Vols can get to a bowl next year (which will be hard with our schedule) then I think we can make a jump into the 8-9 win world in 2015.

I think you can continue to be a top 3-5 SEC program that way.

But the problem is Spurrier won't leave the next coach with elite talent and as much as you all don't want to admit it, Spurrier is a top 5 coach of all time. It is nearly a 100% chance you downgrade at least some.

This is why I cloned this guy. He should be ready in 4 years.

Exactly. What is it with orange teams? They all think that they're the kings of college football.

People who say we are peaking know absolutely nothing about football. Including the turd who started this thread. Spurrier's leaving in 3-5 years? Okay, glad you know that. Because not even Spurrier does. And if you knew anything about the game of football, you know that you shouldn't jump to conclusions when a coach leaves. Especially when no one has any clue who the next coach will be. If you're really a UT fan, you should already know this. So this makes you come off as a closet tater.

Dumb thread.

I fed the troll.

He won't you say? All we need to have is clempson take a major step backward which they will do as soon as Morris leaves. We lock up recruiting in this state even more than we have, continue cultivating ties to NC and poach Ga and Fla as needed. It is sooner than you think.

Can I ask you a question. Why does TN have to come back at all? What about you makes it inevitable? You have crushing debt, your administration makes questionable decisions and you might be violating recruiting rules in this very cycle. You are gambling a lot on the NCAA and the SEC allowing Butch to get away with exploiting a loophole, aren't you?

There's a difference between those teams and Tennessee though. (You probably know the answer here)

You can have the state of Tennessee's recruits...wouldn't win you the ACC with that short bus roster.

1 is manipulating a loophole for a signing class and the others aren't? Tennessee better hope the NCAA and SEC don't mind being punked.

It isn't a given for sure. I do like the direction we are trending right now for sure though. The budget is the most overblown thing I've ever seen, especially on this site. We just demolished our athletics dorm and two old buildings to build an entire new football dormitory compound that is going to be sick with 3 more football practice fields. The money wasn't managed well for a couple years, but since Hart has taken back over it is being built back quickly.

We aren't going to commit a recruiting violation with the numbers we are taking. We are either going to have a couple guys not get in due to grades, go to other schools, be asked to look around or sign one or two more by grayshirting or blueshirting a couple.

Nothing illegal.

"The Vols find themselves mired in more than $200 million of debt, the most in the SEC, with reserves of just $1.95 million, the least in the conference."

From Jan. 2013. Guess I am just making it up.
