The Official 2011-2012 Atlanta Braves Offseason Thread
Wow, what a collapse. That was horrible, wasn't it?
I figure we might as well kick it off since it is now the offseason. |
Re: The Official 2011-2012 Atlanta Braves Offseason Thread
Fire Fredi. That's step one to this offseason. Too bad it likely won't happen. At worst we need to fire the hitting coach.

It's time for Larry to retire...

Re: The Official 2011-2012 Atlanta Braves Offseason Thread
My offseason thread went well last year. We paid Dan uggla to wrestle with the .200 mark

For reference, a site with the contracts

Fredi can crap and fall back in it. That is all.

Re: The Official 2011-2012 Atlanta Braves Offseason Thread
Derek Lowe, Jair Jurrjens, Tommy Hanson, Brandon Beachy, Mike Minor, Julio Teheran, Randall Delgado, Arodys Vizcaino.
That's 8 deadly pitchers. 3 have to go. Guessing Vizcaino moves to the 'pen as the long reliever/spot starter. Who are the other two to go and how do they go? Possibly make a big trade to get a SS? |

Re: The Official 2011-2012 Atlanta Braves Offseason Thread
Smitty, you forgot Hudson.
If there was ANY way to get Lowe off the books, we have to do that. I assume we trade Hanson because he brings back more value than Jair with 2 more years of arbitration. |
Re: The Official 2011-2012 Atlanta Braves Offseason Thread
Hmmm...for some reason I was thinking Hudson was done. Guess not. But that leaves 9, 8 if Viz moves to the 'pen. What do we do with the other 3?
|
Re: The Official 2011-2012 Atlanta Braves Offseason Thread
Trade Hanson, let some of the guys sit in AAA for a bit longer. Put Vizcaino in the Venters role. Trade Venters (as a closer).
|
Re: The Official 2011-2012 Atlanta Braves Offseason Thread
If you were going to trade, why not trade EOF while his stock is as high as it's ever been? Venters is still young and affordable for a while.
|
Re: The Official 2011-2012 Atlanta Braves Offseason Thread
And after the year we've had, I don't think we should be trading any bullpen guys. I'm not up to date on contracts, but I like a 'pen of Moylan, Medlen, EOF, Venters, Vizcaino, Kimbrel and co. Then possibly have a rotation of Hudson, Jurrjens, Beachy, Minor, Teheran with Delgado in AAA and trade Hanson and Lowe.
