Wishful thinking here but..

It seems to me that Coach Martin could be taking a page out of Bobby Cremins playbook when he was at GaTech in year 1. Someone with better knowledge can explain, but I was told that Bobby pretty much cleaned out the entire roster and played walk ons and players that had no business playing at a D1 level in his first year. Basically got destroyed, but recruited a dynamite class (was it Kenny Anderson or Stephaun Marbury?) and eventually got Tech to a National Championship a few years later.

Hope Frank is going to have similar success and Thornwell jumpstarts us..

The cupboard is bare. Martin has no choice but to play who we have. The good news is that he has already upgraded our recruiting significantly. Just give him time.

Not sure about the PG situation.

Cremins 'first year was 81.
Kenny Anderson came in 88 or 89.(they made the final 4 in 90)

Stephon Marbury was 95-96

GT also went to the national title under Hewitt not Cremins.

Bobby Cremins had GT rebuilt by the mid '80's so if that did happen it was much earlier. That mid '80's team had talent like John Salley and Mark Price on it.

It took Bobby 2 years to turn it around, 3 years to go to the dance and Mark Price was the man who turned the corner for Bobby in 82

I've never understood the reason Cremins didn't want to come back and coach at Carolina. There has to be a logical reason but I have no idea what it is.

No. Apparently she had a successful business in Atlanta.

Sorry for getting my years wrong in the OP

Aren't we already playing a lot of guys that have no business in D1 basketball?

Yes, but that is better than forefeiting the games.

Many are actually starting, not just playing.
