Will Brian Steele Earn a Scholly @ USC?
Brian was a top 10 HS player from the state of Pennsylvania before moving to SC for his senior year.
Pittsburgh Basketball Report's #7 ranked player in the class of 2012 is moving to South Carolina. PBR caught up with Steele at Hoop Mountain Camp, located at Slippery Rock University to confirm. Steele was part of one of the top teams in WPIAL Class AAA this season, Hampton HS, and would have been one of the top players in the WPIAL next year. This is a huge loss for Hampton, who lost Tim Donegan and Bill Luther to graduation this year, and only returns about 20 minutes per game worth of varsity experience. The reason for the move is because Steele's father Howard got a new job. The family will be moving to Greenville, SC. Steele says that he will most likely be enrolling at Wade Hampton HS. Steele has improved tremendously since the 09' season. At 6'4 1/2", Steele possesses point guard abilities, with a three point shot that is deadly. His performance on the AAU circuit this spring has gained him some attention from Division 1 schools. He has a very bright future ahead of him, and the Pittsburgh area will definitely miss Brian Steele. http://www.pittsburghbasketballrepor...teelemove.html |

Re: Will Brian Steele Earn a Scholly @ USC?
Steele could get a scholarship next year, depending on whether we sign anyone in the spring and whether anyone transfers.
After reading Bill Gunter's comments on The Big Spur about the possible difficulty of the rising seniors being able to transfer, I now think that, if they want to, they should all be allowed to stay on the team next year. I don''t know what is possible and what isn't, and a lot probably depends on if we sign anyone else for next year. I have always hated players leaving the program. I know that is sometimes best, but there is just something about that I have always hated. I like loyalty. I am a very loyal person. I always want relationships to continue, if that is possible. It would be a hardship on the rising seniors to have to change schools and basketball teams. So, I hope things can be worked out so that no one is hurt. |

I think Steele could get one.
Saw him play at Wade Hampton and the guy has some skill and a sweet shot. Pretty good size too...I was hoping he would get some playing time this year. |
Re: Will Brian Steele Earn a Scholly @ USC?
Just looking solely at the box...why not give him a scholarship.
He was just as productive as Leonard or Slawson. |

Just saying if we are going to give Damien and RJ one for being unproductive, why not give Brian one...at least he showed effort. |
