First day of spring practice
What is everyone looking forward too?
-Spurrier talking about how it seems that new leaders seem to be asserting themselves, and stepping up. -players are in great shape and guys we had concerns about seem to be taking things more seriously. -Dylan Thompson didn't throw an incompletion all day.(okay probably not gonna happen, but I would still like to hear that he did good). -oh yeah, and of course the famous Spurticus reports. |

First day spring practice 2012 First day spring practice 2011 As this RantSports article suggests, even during spring ball Coach Spurrier is already plotting Mark Richt's next defeat: http://www.rantsports.com/ncaa-footb...teve-spurrier/ |
Re: First day of spring practice
I'm wondering which sec team he makes a joke about first. Good bet would be something about Georgia.

Re: First day of spring practice
Kwinton Smith at 200+ pounds, how he moves.
Rainey learning the OLB position. Many things about Wilds. Byrd's hands (if he's not running track). A stepped-up Shamier Jeffery Shaq Roland after winter workouts - in he stronger and better at getting separation? Nosovitch's arm and mobility. Fire in the gut of some offensive linemen. Quarles at over 290 - his quickness. What new tricks has Clowney learned? |
Re: First day of spring practice
I'm looking forward to vague coach speak, fans falling in love with Elliot because of how he gives an interview and yells during practice, a new cockytalk star of practice that moderately produces during the season (currently the Byrd award), and more talk about how a backup quarterback is lighting it up, has big spring game, and then either transfers or disappears (the McEvoy/Beecher award).

Wait, no they don't. If you like having bland, offseason discussions about stuff that doesn't matter, then fine go have them. Somewhere else. and leave the actual topic of discussing football being played again, to people who might actually be having a good day. Good day sir. |

Re: First day of spring practice
Yea it was mentioned on espn radio as one of the highlights of the day." Coming up on Sportscenter, we go live to South Carolina for their spring practice opener to see how Jadeveon Clowney is progressing." Pretty much what was said. Not word for word. But you get the idea

Re: First day of spring practice
@evansilva: ESPN's Tom Rinaldi reported that #SouthCarolina DE Jadeveon Clowney ran a 4.5 40 at 270 during recent winter workouts.
ummmmmmmm, I'm looking forward to more of that |

Re: First day of spring practice
LOL. spurrier isn't going to come out there and talk about how great our leaders are stepping up and throw out a bunch of rah rah stuff on the first day of spring practice. You need to go about 90 miles west for that.

Re: First day of spring practice
Just read some info on GCC and it seems that the starters will be protected heavily this spring(i know its the norm). But Ward put emphasis that this spring will be no diff and that makes me excited to see what the younger guys can do with the extra reps.

Re: First day of spring practice
Chris Clark @GCChrisClark
Was told Clowney actually 273 pounds when he turned in the 4.5 range 40 in testing. Also was fairly close to 40 inch vert. |
Re: First day of spring practice
This answers that question of who will receive ESPN's wall-to-wall Heisman push this year. Congratulations Clowney. ESPN will make sure the garnet and black are on every program until Clowney moves on.

What I am interested in reading about are how into practice new players look, what our LB will look like in the Fall, how the redshirted OL are doing, and if from somewhere on campus a field goal kicker can be found. What most will talk about is how Dylan is doing and if Noso looks half way decent then he will become the focus, which WR caught the long pass, and if someone makes a play longer than 50 yards he will become our new homerun threat in the fall. |
