Re: LASIK

My daughter's husband had it done before he joined the army and my older brother had it done a couple of years ago. They said it's the best thing they've ever done because they can see so much better. Good luck to your wife.

Just a couple of days becuase of the light sensitivity and drugs.
After that it was good vision but my eyes would dry out or get really crusty.
There would also be halos at night.
These symptoms lasted about 30 days.

This was done in 2004 and I now probably need to go and get it refreshed. Mine was the prk

Re: LASIK

I had PRK in 1997, which is what they did before Lasik.

My ex has Lasik and was back to wearing glasses within a year. The doc wanted us to pay $2k for an "enhancement", which I thought was a joke. We complained and got it dropped to $250. So find out what their procedure is should you need a touch up.

And I wouldn't recommend Dr. Christenbury in Charlotte.

Interested in having this done, as I really can't wear contacts comfortably for longer than three or four hours anymore.

How much should I realistically expect to pay? I've heard anything from 2k to 8k. I know it's all about where you're having it done, etc, but just curious what some of y'all have paid.

Best thing my wife had done. It was amazing that we had to drive 4 hours away to have it done and on the way home she was able to read signs that she couldn't see on the way. The worst part of the surgery was she said that she felt like sand was in her eyes and had to use drops in them and could not rub them because it would cause damage. I think we paid around 4k for the surgery about 6 years ago.

i've always heard that if, prior to lasik, you already experience dry eyes...then lasik would be a bad idea for you.

thats my problem- i get dry eyes now, which is why i cant wear my contacts for more than 4 hours or so.

Re: LASIK

I had it done, best money I've ever spent. You also get a Valium, so she probably won't care as much when its happening.

Re: LASIK

And just to clarify, the valium isn't really for pain, its more to relax you.

I watched them do the procedure on my wife about 10 years ago. No reason to worry at all.

Im moving back to Korea with my soon to be wife. She is getting it done there for 1000 bucks. Going to be such an investment and lifesaver for her.
