State of Virginia

I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I really think South Carolina should make the state of Virginia a big pipeline state. There is plenty of good talent in Va. A lot of talent actually.

USC has done more in Virginia since Jay Graham was working here. For schools like USC, it takes time to get into other states outside of your region.

Hampton Roads is where the most talent is and there is a pipeline there to Va Tech.

There is talent there. If you can get the cream out of South Carolina and cherrypick Georgia and Florida why worry with Virginia? Last i checked UV sucks out loud and VT for years has been vastly overated. I dont think you can get better talent than sc, ga, fl, al and nc.... Maybe a special one here and there but overall were in the most talent rich area of the country.

We could probably find more talented Basketball players from that state rather than football players.

You're right. Our pipeline states do have the best talent, but Virginia is still a state we could give some players a look.

I'm sorry but this is an ignorant comment. Vt and UVA don't struggle due to the lack of talent in the state of Virginia. The state of va is loaded, but in order to compete for recruits there we have to gain significantly more traction. If these kids don't go to UVA or vt out of state schools like psu, osu, bama, uf and Tennessee have done well there. We could open eyes if we snag hand. If we get a kid out of va it will be we'll worth it, and due to a lot of good solid recruiting.

Over the years, the top talent in Va has gone to the B1G. There is good talent in Tidewater, but there is just as good talent in Central and Northern Va as well. I just don't know if any of our coaches have good contacts here. Ray Tanner has recruited really good baseball players from Va. I think there are about 5 players from Va on the baseball team now.

Ignorant? You mean the two instate teams suck because they are loaded with talent....? Tell you what would be ignorant, You start naming the Virginia talent thru the years and ill name Fl, GA, NC, SC and AL talent thru the years..... Clemson is a recruiter of Virginia with their "highly reguarded" QB recruit Tajd Boyd coming down here and getting beat by a kid in UGA's back yard they didnt want that we win with.......Like i said, i wouldnt pass up a few bigtime recruits from there but we wouldnt be hurting if we never got one from Virginia. Too much talent around here to go anywhere to make a class of 25 recruits.

Good teams go where the talent is......but I understand why we confine a majority of our recruiting to the Carolina's, GA and Fla.

Okay so we can be on the same page.... I'm not saying va has more talent than ga fla and sometimes nc. What I am saying is they have comparable talent to those states (not top to bottom, just at the top) and it wouldn't be wise to not try and get our share of the pie.

Now, would it be wise to let our current pipelines dry up and put all our eggs in va's basket? No. We should continue those pipelines and invest some of our time in va now that we're at the point in our program where we can walk into a va home and not get the door shut in our face.

The state of va has a ton of high level talent that other schools have tapped into. We shouldn't turn our backs on that state. Lets continue to kick the tires on these prospects and continue to keep winning on Saturdays and some berries will fall. (Very close to getting rolin last year)

The state of Virginia is ACC country. The best kids are gonna go to ACC teams, with maybe a handful going to non-ACC conference teams. Just the way it is.

Per 247's rankings there were 16 4* players in VA and 7 went out of state so it is more than a handful leaving a state that is probably top 10 in terms of talent it produces year in and year out. It would be nothing short of huge for our program if we could do what we do in NC in VA and steal a few players each year.

Unfortunately in Hampton Rds/Tidewater, where I've lived for 30 yrs, many studs go to other SEC schools and ACC. SC is not on anyone's radar for football, but we've done great in baseball, thank you Coach Meyers, former coach at ODU.

Hard to overstate the amount of top talent here. The VT pipeline has slowed and UVa has gained recruiting momentum in this area.

I'm guessing close to Petersburg. I'm sure you can see I'm in the Manassas area. Although I grew up in Columbia

Clemson and South Carolina had plenty of talent in the state of SC, and weren't all that good at one time.... remember?
