thoughts on Belcher pitching on friday..

Until Jordan comes back i think he has a case made for moving into the Friday night slot.

Friday-Belcher
Saturday-Holmes
Sunday-Beal

I thought Beal did well Friday.
And I think Belcher is comfortable as a Sunday guy....I just like having a shut down guy on Sunday in case the series is tied 1-1.

But you are right...if Belcher is moved to Friday, he has certainly made his case for it.

Holmes should pitch Friday or Sunday.

If it ain't broke..... don't fix it!

I think our lineup of pitchers this weekend was exceptional, including Tyler Webb!

Colby isn't pitching the way he should nor how he is capable. I would not move him into the Friday spot. You need a lights out guy to start the series in the SEC, and Colby just isn't that right now.

I agree. Beal to fill in for Monty til he's back, keep the rest the same. If Colby can't pick it up by SEC time, I'd move Wynkoop up for some weekend starts. Let Colby figure it out during the week.

Judging by some of Chad's comments after Saturday's game, I think Colby will be on a VERY short leash this Saturday at Mizzou (provided we aren't snowed out). I do think Colby will get back to form, just may need as others opined some midweek starts to get his groove back.

i am personally for
fri-beal
sat-holmes
sun-little unit

i brought up the question because my bro thinks belcher should be friday..i see where he has made a great case, but like someone said above, dont fix what isnt broken. it is a bit early too write off holmes. He has experience and will work through it.

Colby is a great pitcher, but I think he is having some confidence problems. Maybe a few wins in the mid-week games would help him. I like Gumby to start, Belcher to close, and let Beal and Wynkoop take turns in the Saturday spot until one looks the most consistent.

It would be difficult for Belcher to pitch this upcoming Friday b/c last 2 appearances he's gone over 100 pitches. No question he deserves it, though!

As for Holmes, we all know he's capable (threw most of the no-no this year) & he'll end up getting back to form. For this weekend, I see our rotation being Beal-Little U-Holmes.

Colby has shown flashes of brilliance, and has a solid body of work. He is just less consistent than the rest of the staff, even last year. Granted the 'rest of the staff' are top notch.

Don't think they would move Nolan up two days, since he has thrown over 100 pitches two weeks in a row . If he moved to Friday it would most likely be a two week process - Saturday one week and then Friday the next .

Holmes on Friday? Lol. No.

Belcher being on Sunday is great. I love going into Sunday with Belcher. He's been dominant this year. Series is on the line, you want him or Beal pitching?

I think the best recipe for this pitching staff may end up being:

Fri-Montgomery
Sat-Belcher
Sun-Wynkoop

Then have Beal be the Tyler Webb of last year, the set up guy out of the pen who can be stretched out and pitch a lot of innings. And of course stick with Webb as the closer.

Holmes is too hittable right now and needs to be moved to a midweek starter role. He also has a tendancy to leave balls up in the zone and give up the long ball so im not sure id be so confident with him coming out of the pen in tight, crucial situations.

Wynkoop is certainly not proven right now but I definitely think he has the potential to be a great weekend starter for us. Just not seeing Holmes ending up as a key guy for us this year, I could end up being wrong but I just dont see it for the rest of the season.

When Beal is on he's as good as anyone. But when he loses it, its gone and not coming back. I think he is better suited as a starter. I'm hoping that Koumas returns to the form he's had in the past. I think we stick with Beal and maybe Koumas in maybe long relief, and Holmes then Belcher. At least until Montgomery comes back.

That may include some tough love, or a kojak trim.

To tell you the truth, I'm not sold on any of them yet (save Montgomery). I'm pleasantly surprised by Belcher, as we all are. But its still early...................

Was not i town for beal's start. Has he developed a change-up this year? I'm not talking about his breaking ball. I've always felt the only thing keeping him from being dominant is not having a change-up.

I'm not a fan of throwing 3 lefties every weekend, Holmes should come around

I think Belcher gets the Saturday gig this week to change things up

You're right, there probably should be a righty in the rotation. Im just not seeing it for Holmes right now though but I hope Im wrong. I like Beal out of the pen, yes he has ben inconsistent at times but I think he could have a big year for us. If only koumas was back to the form of his freshman year he could be moved back to the rotation.
