Re: Quick music poll: 3 Dog Night vs. Procol Harum
Wow..Talk about a tough Choice !
Most people from my Generation that were around the first year Three Dog Night came on the National Scene (with Joy to the World), called them an upscale Pop Band. It wasn't until they had been around for a couple of years that people started to realize this was pretty damn good band. They did music you "just couldn't Not Like" to listen to. For me, they had just enough of a touch of Blues to make them a group I liked to hear. The song in this match up (Easy to be Hard) along with Out In The Country and Eli were probably my favorite songs by TDN. Against the majority of songs this one would be up against, I pick Three Dog Night ....HOWEVER Procol Harum did one song that I liked, but DAMN what a song. Not only is it the best thing they ever wrote, but it has become a Rock Icon. I would have Whiter Shade of Pale on my list of 25 Best Rock Songs ever written. This contest is like If Jimi Hendrix had been a one hit wonder with All Along The Watchtower and it was in a matchup in a contest like this with Going to California by Led Zeppelin !! I voted for Procol Harum ....Can't vote against one of my all time favorites. |
