NCAA Backs OFF of Two New Recruiting Rules
 

The NCAA Board of Directors officially suspended two controversial rules changes concerning recruiting Monday, overturning two elements of a deregulation package approved by the same board in January. The changes had allowed football staff members other than the program's coaches to perform recruiting tasks and eliminated restrictions on the types of printed material that can be sent to potential recruits.



A third rules change that would have "eliminated restrictions on modes and numerical limitations of recruiting contacts" -- allowing for unlimited texts, phone calls, and social media messages from coaches to recruits -- was also considered for suspension but will instead go through the normal override process.

Ugh...if I was a recruit, I would block anyone who called, texted or messaged me too much. Can you imagine messages getting buried in the onslaught, so everybody does it?

ya.

It was a dumb idea to begin with and all it took was Bama to take the new rules and run with them. They did nothing wrong, they just maximize the system that is in place.

Thankfully, they did and now they are gone.

Ya Bama had an army of like 50 "recruiters" ready to roll if this went into effect. So I hear atleast.

LOL. Talk about overkill what recruiting do they have to do? I guess they want to just keep players from going to the competition at this point and put grayshirts on them.

This was a bad idea from the beginning. Glad they recognized it and corrected their mistake.
