Cody Gibson injured

SIAP

He will need surgery to repair a torn meniscus. He should be back in time for summer workouts.

Hope he heals back quickly....sounds like he should be ready to go 100% for fall camp...

The Zandi Project will get more emphasis now.

Were they trying him out at TE this Spring? Heard they wanted to try him there.

Sucks, I'm sorry that happened to him. At least we are pretty deep on the OL. Hopefully, we still will be when the season starts. I would hate to pull a georgia and start losing OL left and right before the season.

Who, Gibson or Zandi?

Sounds like from Spurrier's post-practice presser yesterday that Matulis is a definite shut-down this season, and possibly would apply for a medical red-shirt. There was an implication that Mike was even considering quitting FB, but had not made any such decision. I knew he was dealing with shoulder injuries but didn't know how bad they really were. Now I know....

Yes, suddenly we're not looking so deep on the OL. Still, if we can keep Corey, Brock, AJ, Cody W., Clayton, Ronald, Will and Brandon healthy we should be alright. Coach Elliott arrived saying he only needs 8 healthy players. Need to plant a playbook pill and field smarts in young DJ's head.

Not really at tackle, considering that Matulis is out and the Zandi Project is, well, a project.

There will be 4 freshmen coming in that played tackle in HS, but they are freshmen.

Where would Matulis primarily have been a backup at, G or T?

Go Cocks!

OL is the one place where we need depth and consistency... one year we will have both

Gibson was being looked at for a TE slot on blocking situations, a lot like what the 49ers and other Harbaugh teams have done recently. He is also pretty athletic and played that in High School some, so they believed it wouldn't be an obvious blocking ploy, but I didn't know if they actually did any of it.

I don't think he's near ready to play right away. Needs a RS year

Re: Cody Gibson injured

Well, Gibson is expected to be back in the summer so we can also add him to our OT depth...

This is why we have to keep recruiting OL...may have the highest attrition of any position on the team.
Wish Cody and quick recovery.
