Jaylen Shaw 2013 PG (Signed LOI)
6-0 PG Jaylen Shaw of Hartsville made an official visit to Tulane last weekend and is expecting a visit from USC coaches next week. Shaw is focusing on Tulane, USC, Miami of Ohio, Coastal Carolina and Virginia Tech. Tulane, Miami of Ohio and Coastal have offered Shaw who was once committed to High Point. Virginia Tech plans to visit with him Sunday. Shaw said he will take an official visit to Miami of Ohio but has not set the date. He is optimistic his upcoming meetings with USC and Virginia Tech will lead to offers. Shaw was named the WPDE-15 Zoneman of the Year as the area player of the year. He was also selected for the Carolinas All Star Classic. This season Shaw led Hartsville to the 3A state title averaging 24 points and 8 assists per game.

24 pts and 8 assists is all I needed to see. 3A title as the main distributor means he can win too. We need someone like this badly.

Too small, unless he is very exceptional. And I doubt he is.

Re: Jaylen Shaw 2013 PG Prospect
He is a point guard. Playing the 1 does not require you to be 6'6"...

Re: Jaylen Shaw 2013 PG Prospect
Don't we already have a bunch of guards coming in?

Kid can play. He took over that State Title game when Hartsville started to let it get away from them. Clutch 3 after Clutch 3. Not saying he will be a great college player, but he was very impressive from what I've seen of him.

Is he your cousin or something? If he was an outstanding player, our coaches would have offered him before now. He would have offers from better programs than he now has. USC has offered 3 guards for the spring. Shaw is not one of them. If we don't get one of the guards we have already offered, I would prefer to hold the scholarship for the 2014 class rather than take a chance on Shaw becoming a great player. |

Re: Jaylen Shaw 2013 PG Prospect
In no way am I comparing Shaw to him, but the #3 G in America and the #9 player overall according to Rivals is 6'1" 190, in case anyone wants to make a size comparison.
Size should not be the determining factor here. Who cares if the guy is only 6'0" if he can distribute, not the turn the ball over, and score a little bit when needed? |

Re: Jaylen Shaw 2013 PG Prospect
I am fine with anyone our coaches want. But there are at least 3 guards our coaches prefer to Shaw for this spring since they have offered them and have not, at this point, offered Shaw. I would prefer we get one of those.

Never mind, I went back and looked. I would love to get Millinghaus as he is a big guard and seems like he has an ability to score. I wouldn't be terribly disappointed getting Shaw either. |

I'm not sure he's the answer at PG, but he's already better than anything we had this year, including Bruce IMO. I know that's a somewhat bold claim, but I think Bruce is all flash and no substance on the bball floor. He can dazzle for 5-10 minute stretches, then he runs out of tricks. |
