Jarvis Jones runs a 4.93 40 at Pro Day

The reviews are in from Georgia’s Pro Day, and while linebacker Jarvis Jones declared himself the best player in the draft afterward, most other observers weren’t so impressed.

NFL Network’s Mike Mayock reported from the Pro Day that Jones ran a 40-yard dash in the 4.9-second range, and that representatives of multiple teams were alarmed that Jones was that slow.

“I think a 4.9 is a red flag,” Mayock said. “I talked to a lot of coaches and scouts and they all said the same thing: ‘Wow. A lot slower than we expected.’”

Never can recall him doing much when we played the pups, always thought he was overrated!

Thoughts? slower than Te'o even! (but probably much smarter haha)

Go Cocks!

He just cost himself first round, imo. He is still a good player. I wouldn't mind if the Falcons could get him in a lower round now

Wasn't he once the #1 player on the big board? Shows how ridiculous any comparison between him and clowney were

He wont even come close to dropping out of the 1st.

Maybe not...but he really needed a good pro day from what I was hearing. Remember he did not work out at the combine and his medical issues are well documented. Yea somebody will probably still take him 15-30 range...but I am interested to see how the rest of his pro day went

That's A LOT slower than I thought he was going to run. I still think he may go in the 1st round, but maybe not as high.

I agree....this won't cost him much since he has so much else going for him. Plus this is a weak draft. He won't fall past the Jets at 9.

Doesn't he have something wrong with his spine too?

Yea I'd take Ogletree over him.

Yea he has a spinal issue that so cal would not clear him from to play. He was thought to be done with football completely but got some 2nd, and 3rd opinions and was cleared to play by uga's staff

I saw it was the same issue Marcus McNeil had and he retired at 28

He might pull a DaQuan and drop to the 2nd round.

Between his health issues, which is a potential BIG problem for a future employer like the NFL, and his sub-par performance at the pro day, after not performing at the combine...how can he NOT fall out of the 1st round?

If a team takes him 1st round, they are taking a huge gamble. Sure, there are teams willing to take a gamble, but its still one nonetheless.

I can beat 4.93. I need sympathy because I have turned up with pneumonia. I could still beat 4.93!
Ot. No baseball game outside for me. Preumonia does that. I will be watching, so someone go yell for me at The Ray.

This hurts Jones. Scouts know hes not a speedster. The knock on him are the rumors about his work ethic. 4.9 makes people believe the rumors. Gifted player but the guy is lazy.

Actually agree. I don't think his projection will ever be outside of the top 20, if it drops past the top 15, but the health issue he has gives him the legit potential to be a 1 contract player. That is why Bowers dropped despite at one point being considered possibly the top player in the draft. This has a Baltimore pick written all over it where a great player slides in the draft due to a question and Baltimore gambles and hits big.
