Vandy: By The Numbers
Still confused over the doom and gloom outlook some fans have.
Number of drives: 13
Average start w/o turnover: Vandy 28
Average start with turnover: USC 28
Average start with turnover minus last drive : USC 8
Average yard per drive: 21
Average yard per drive w/o turnover: 22.3
Average yard per drive with turnover: 15
Points w/o turnovers: 10
Points from turnovers: 15
Points per drive w/o turnover: 1
Points per drive w/ turnover: 3
Points per drive w/ turnover on our side of the field: 7.5
Longest drives: 49, 47, 46
So the moral of the story ... when we didn't give them 2 turnovers IN OUR REDZONE they averaged 2 first downs a drive and 1 point per drive.
We gave them the ball twice on our side of the field and that hurt us majorly. Other than that, they went on 1 "drive" that was less than half of the field that resulted in a TD, and kicked a 54 yard FG.
Re: Vandy: By The Numbers
we had 579 yard to their 268. The problem wasn't with the O and wasn't with the D, it was a matter of field position, which seems to mainly be an issue with the special teams (besides the interception they returned back within a yard of the endzone). There were good individual plays by ST but it was a glaring weakness for sure.
