Renting a car

Thinking about renting a car to take to the bowl game, anybody got any good suggestions of a place in Columbia?

We use Enterprise, its pretty good. If you have triple A, you can get a discount there. Also at Hertz I believe.

Do they do unlimited miles to anywhere? I saw some places that only do it for SC, NC, and GA. Other than that is 150 free and $.25 a mile after that.

Yeah, there are some real restrictions on out of state car rentals. Rentals are plentiful and cheap down here. Maybe take the train down and back and rent a car while here?

Ditto to what everyone else said, find another way to get there (plane or train), renting a car will get expensive in a hurry if you leave the state... Enterprise is the best though, I've rented 5 cars this year (business trips, plus I've had a helluva time with my own car this year...) and Enterprise was definitely the most professional and helpful service

and robg is right, both Enterprise and Hertz will give a discount to AAA members.

What do yall think of Thrifty? They offer unlimited miles to Florida and the prices seem good.

Thrifty merged with Dollar and was acquired by Chrysler. The the recession hit and it was spun off. Two years ago it was bought by Hertz. So now it is basically a low cost division of Hertz. I may have a discount coupon code for you. I'll check.

I looked on Priceline and most seem to be about the same cost before discount codes but you can try the name you own price thingie. http://www.priceline.com/rentalcars/...98701&plf=PCLN. Here are Thrifty's discount codes: http://www.thrifty.com/Deals.aspx. You can combine those with Priceline I think.

Go with Hertz. I can give you a CDP code for a discount and usually unlimited mileage.
