AP All-SEC

1st Team- Clowney, Quarles

2nd Team- Mike Davis, Vic Hampton, Sharrod Golightly

Congrats to these guys:clap:

I'm sure if you told most of us after the first few games of the year that Golightly would be All-SEC, people would be shocked. Ward did a fantastic job with the defense improving from week to week.

Mike Davis deserves 1st team over Jeremy Hill.

Shocked Golightly made it, but considering all the crap he caught earlier in the year, I'm really glad to see him on there.

Crap that Shaw didn't even get honorable mention. Typical.

Shaw did not even make Honorable Mention. That's ridiculous.

Re: AP All-SEC

Golightly is the only person on our team who can tackle consistently. But from what I've heard around here lately not many people think he is any good.

I thought that was pretty funny when I was reading it. He deserves 2nd team. Heck of a player. And good with the fundamentals that our defense has lacked this year.

Shaw gets no respect.
Not even honorable mention.

Not sure how you can call Nick Marshall a QB since he hardly throws the ball.

And how does Zach Mettenberger get honorable mention over Shaw?

Surprised Skai Moore didn't get freshman of the year.
Led the team and tackles, but doesn't even get honorable mention?

Agree about skai. That is bad. Shaw getting no love is weak also.

Golightly getting it is funny. He was up and down most of the year. I guess he got noticed for more than jumping offsides several times this year. He did ball out on miss st though.

Re: AP All-SEC

mike deserved 1st team, but 2nd team is still a good honor. those last 6 quarters of the regular season brought him back to the pack, because prior to that he was the guy who would have deserved easily the most votes.

shaw was 21 td 1 int, noone in the sec has ever had a better ratio than that and he doesnt even get honorable mention?

As long as Carolina keeps getting the wins, then screw the All-SEC team. It will be the same way when next year's preseason team comes out.

All the voters are about as ridiculous as the BCS system and NCAA sanctions committee for not voting for Connor.

:woo::woo::woo: Hopefully this gives the team even more motivation for the bowl game!:wink::wink:

That really is…yeah, that's absurd.

Yeah he was crazy insane this year, how many injuries did he play through?

The dude transcends the "baller" moniker. He's a quintessential soldier in a football uniform.

That's garbage. IMO how does Clowney get 1st Team? He really didn't do anything on the stat sheet, besides disrupt things. But Shaw just wins 17 games at home and throw 21 Td's and 1 INt and nothing?!?! SMh

A.J. Cann not making first team is a joke. An outrage that hes not 2nd team.

Re: AP All-SEC

I can see what they did at RB, and I can't disagree with it. When there are just so many good players at the positions, you go with the top ones that have produced stat-wise. Davis was clearly the top RB in the conference through 8 games or so, but he just got wore down too much towards the end, and struggled to maintain the pace and score TDs. While both Hill and Mason continued if not got stronger as the season progressed.

At the end, Davis got passed by both in terms of rushing ypg, and both scored more rushing tds than Davis. Therefore anything that could be argued in Davis' behalf for why he should be 1st-team, they can also argue it and argue that they did better. Mike was an excellent receiving RB and did more there than either, but as a true RB I think Mike ends up 3rd this season, and he's rightly placed on 2nd team.

Still doesn't change what a great season he had for us, and how excited I am to see what he does next season. Some questions could be asked how well Davis might have done had Wilds been healthier to give him more breathers between plays: Davis took himself out of drives often, so I doubt the added contributions of Wilds would've diminished his ypc, and may have helped him have more energy and burst on some runs in late stages. Also during the mid-season we didn't see more of either Carson or Smith to help out Davis when Wilds was out and Shaw was hobbled. It might have helped Davis be stronger down the stretch for better games than what he ultimately had...
