Probably a horrible officiating crew for the Tangerine Bowl

The Capital One Bowl -- featuring the University of Wisconsin and South Carolina -- caused a stir on social media Tuesday when it Tweeted that it has been assigned game officials from the Pac-12 for the New Year's Day contest.

Now, it's not likely they are the same officials that worked the Badgers' non-conference game at Arizona State, BUT ... it didn't stop BadgerNation from reacting that way.
Ouch. Not only was Wisconsin jobbed this year at Arizona State, but last year as well at Oregon State.

What really makes that one worse than the call at *SU was that there was a video review with very clear evidence available.

The Pac12 refs are a nightmare.

I had forgot about that bad call. I was worried that we had been given the same refs as last years game. Wisconsin and Carolina might have the two biggest mistakes by refs over the last year.

How could we forget. We all know what happened on the next play.

1. Outback bowl
2. Shaw gets blocked on the 5yd line.
3. Garcia gets the peoples elbow.

Mark Richt has lost total control of the refs.....

Yeah, I'm not seeing how they were jobbed on that Oregon Sate play. Against ASU, the official didn't see the QB's knee go down. They miss some things. I didn't see the QB's knee go down until like the 4th time I saw the replay he did it so quick. You have to blame the QB for not making it clear he was down.

The OSU guy on the onside hit the ball making it live but the refs missed it on the replay review.

Anyone who knows football could tell the QB was giving himself up so they could spike the ball quickly. The refs screwed up without a doubt and blooming the QB makes zero sense.

I'm sure they will make for their mistakes against us.

One good thing about the PAC-12... They do call holding...

Exactly what I thought when I read this.

At least the ref didn't tilt the ball backwards and call it short on a 4th down play which hurt your team late in the game. But then without that absolute horrendous move by the refs, we wouldn't have had The Hit by JD.

Come to think of it I can't remember which game I screamed (and I mean LOUD) more at as watching it on television.. the Michigan bowl game from last year or this year's Missouri game. Might be a toss up.

The video that they have against Arizona State isn't a "bad call" ... what did you think would happen? You have no time outs and when you kneed it it's going to take some time to reset the ball. Smart play by the Arizona State guys for jumping on the ball and slowing that process down.

Does anyone remember the call "Lay down dawgs!"? It was to have their guys move as slowly as possible to run time off the clock. The QB here knees it and stands up and turns to the official and takes his sweet dear time and then gets mad at the umps ...

Ouch. How can they do that? My eyesight isn't the best, but I feel 100% confident I'd be able to call that one better than the officials on the field.

15 seconds to reset the ball and we were going to spike the ball to stop the clock, it was only 2nd or 3rd down. If you want to see how refs should do it, then check out the end of the Michigan vs Northwestern game. Michigan had 9 secs left on clock, an it was 4th down so they could not spike the ball. They managed to get their fg team on the field and get the play off. In 9 seconds!!!

If you think the Pac 12 refs didn't mess up then you are delusional. The refs could have called a delay of game on the defense, or even just stopped the clock until everyone cleared out. They also could have called a fumble which would stop the clock and then review the play.

That's simply not true. The ref actually blew the whistle and play dead immediately upon Stave's knee going down.

I still do not see the QB's knee go down. That looks like a fumble to me.

The commentator was saying he didn't take a knee, that is what threw me off. The refs probably should have thrown a delay of game flag on ASU, but still, only an idiot takes a knee with no timeouts when losing and 14 seconds left on the clock just because you want a straighter FG. That is too risky and you need a little more time for that just to be safe. The fact that QB got right back up so quick and tried to spot the ball for them shows that he KNEW this was dangerous. The ASU players didn't see the knee go down, they really think they got a fumble. I don't blame them one bit. Really you only take a knee when you are going to win. Just spike the ball right there and kick the FG where you are. The reason you lost was because you tried to be too cute, not because of the officials.
