Jr. Interested in Duke OC Job

South Carolina: Co-offensive coordinator / wide receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. tells TheState.com that he would be interested in the Duke offensive coordinator job if David Cutcliffe was to contact him. Spurrier Jr. is a Duke alumnus.

Sometimes, you have to step backwards to step forwards.

It would be a chance for him to make his own name instead of being under his dad's shadow.

That would be a perfect position for Bubba. Make his own name and still be able to beat climpsen!

He's putting his name out there. Sounds like he's ready for another challenge.

unfortunately I think the clock starts ticking on how long Steve stays if Jr leaves.

This would be a great move for Bubba.

If he could put together some high powered offenses at Duke, maybe it strengthens his resume enough to be his dad's successor at USC.

Let him get his feet wet at Duke for a few years, then bring him in when Daddy decides to hang it up.

I concur. Not only that, but I agree.

That clock is ticking no matter what Jr. does.

Coach has always mentioned how much working with family has played into his desire to coach longer. I have a feeling if you take Jr. out the picture and we have a less than stellar year next season then the time starts moving faster.

I expect SOS to be here another 3-4 years, regardless of who his coaches are and where Jr. decides to coach.

Good move for him. Get out of dads shadow and make a name for yourself. Question is who would replace him ?

Is he still our recruiting coordinator? Would Deke take over that?

Doesn't cutcliffe run his own offense, just like the HBC?

Getting back to Duke and working with Cutcliffe makes a lot of sense for Jr. If he's interested, I hope he gets the job.

Re: Jr. Interested in Duke OC Job?

Kinda odd for him to put it out there in this manner. I am pretty sure his dad was involved with Cutcliff getting the job at Duke to begin with and you have to think that SOS and Cutcliff have each others number. Just seems weird to blurt it out.
