This stuff has been going on for decades. Now, a national writer is on it may eventually come to light.

Love this quote:

Quote:

The rot in Chapel Hill undermines UNCís reputation as one of the nationís finest public institutions of higher learning.
Kept saying it over and over again in the recruiting forums and people kept pushing back. This scandal, if given the proper press, will undermine the entire reputation of UNC as some academic bastion of excellence. THEY MADE UP ENTIRE CLASSES people. They forged signatures. This has been going on for almost 20 years!

Thought this was especially poignant;

"There’s also the particularly pernicious way that the school’s African and Afro-American Studies Department has been used to inflate the GPAs of basketball and football players. The corruption of a scholarly discipline devoted to black history and culture underscores a racial subtext to the exploitation of college athletes that typically goes unidentified in polite discussion. (UNC’s former longtime Afro-Am chairman, Julius Nyang’oro, has been criminally indicted for fraud.)"

It amazes me how the average person can realize the bull$hit, yet a sanctions committee, who's specialty it is to investigate and collect evidence yet can totally fu** it up.

nothing will ever come of this thing. young men and women will still go there in droves for an education. athletes will still get scholarship offers to play there and will commit. eh, it was a story for awhile until it was apparent that nothing was going to come of it. I am sure nc staters were drooling for a year or two though, all too no avail.

Five to be exact - Ever since Frank#1 left UNC after an exhaustive NCAA investigation of his program found nothing of significance.

Truth is Dean Smith has the personality of a wet blanket. Do you really think someone like that could attract talent to UNC w/o a little sugar water to help out?

Poor Johnny Wooden only had 'Papa' Sam Gilbert helpin' him.
Deano, don't look now, but I think your feet are turnin' to clay.
Looks like SMU were a bunch of chior boys compared to these cats.
Play UNC? What for? Hey, NCAA, found your 'nads yet?

Time for a shredding party.

The NCAA has so far refused to touch this not because of UNC's football team, but because the basketball team is involved.

It wants no part in investigating this because of how deep this runs.
