2015 - Rashad Roundtree

Safety from Evans, Georgia. Offers from Ole Miss, Michigan State, Georgia, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State. I've seen him play and he is very good. Look for his stock to go up this season.

UGA is an early leader, but it's from set in stone. He enjoys the recruiting process and the door is open for another team to sway him.

Wow, from outside the top 250 to #17 on the Rivals rankings. What did he do to get so much attention suddenly?

He's going to be a Dawg, so that warrants a ratings bump.

Looks like we would have to beat out Uga for him. Regardless we need a big time safety in this class

Kornblut updates since NSD:

Quote:

DB Rashad Roundtree (6-1 195) of Evans, GA is one of the top safety prospects in the country and “can go anywhere he wants to,” according to his coach Jarrett Troxler. “But I believe he wants to play in the SEC. He’s a smart kid, a down to earth kid. He wants to take some visits and kid of get his bearings. He’ll be a guy who will wait until after his senior season.”
One of those visits will be Saturday. Roundtree will be at Georgia for a spring practice. He has been to Auburn with his coach. “He really likes coach Harbison, coach Johnson and coach Malzahn,” Troxler said. He’s also been to Duke which was his first offer.
Roundtree was going to visit USC for one of their first spring practices but the weather issue nixed that. He plans to visit this spring but the date hasn’t been set. He’s also going to visit Clemson at some point. His coach will be at Dabo Swinney’s coaches clinic next week. Roundtree is in regular contact with USC and Clemson recruiters.
“He likes USC a lot,” Troxler said. “He’s talked to coach Spurrier a good bit on the phone. And he likes Clemson a lot. He’s talked to coach Venables and coach Morris and they’ve been actively recruiting him.”
Troxler said he expects Roundtree to narrow his list to five by the start of his season and take all five of his official visits before he makes his decision, Right now Roundtree doesn’t have favorites.

per 247 Timeline

Quote:

DB Rashad Roundtree of Evans, GA has offers from all over the country and he plans to take some visits this summer before narrowing his list to five prior to the season. Roundtree said that Clemson and USC are a strong possibility for making that list. He has yet to visit Clemson but is familiar with the Gamecocks.
“(Steve) Spurrier’s Camp was one of the first ones that I attended,” Roundtree said. “I got a chance to tour the campus and see the facilities and they’re all really nice. What stood out was the coaching staff. They have a really good staff and that’s what I am looking for.”
He plans a return visit to USC this summer and will visit Clemson for the first time.
“They’re a school I’ve been watching closely,” he said. “I really just need to get up there and see everything for myself.”
Other possible destinations this summer for Roundtree include Ohio State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Auburn and Alabama. “Ohio State is probably the only long distance trip I’ll take,” he explained. “The rest will be around here.”
As a junior, Roundtree totaled 97 tackles, four interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
He does not have a favorite.

DB Rashad Roundtree of Evans, GA remains open regarding his recruiting with no favorite and no top five at this time.
He has been to Ohio State, Georgia and Auburn for visits and will return to Georgia this month for Dog Night.
He said Georgia has been showing him the strongest interest.
He is still hearing from Clemson and USC and likes both programs. He plans to visit both before he makes his decision which won’t come until after his season. Roundtree camped at USC last summer and has never been to Clemson.
As he makes his rounds, Roundtree is judging the schools on a simple criteria. “Just how well I fit with the program and how I feel about the coaches and players,” he said.
Some of his other offers include Georgia Tech, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Duke, Michigan, Virginia and Georgia Southern.
Roundtree had 97 tackles and 4 interceptions last season.
