Clowney/Agent to sue?

Clowney's agent threatened a sub shop to sue for use of Clowney's name. The sub shop is in Rock Hill. Mods move to locker room if required.

Well if they use his name without permission, it is bound to happen.

I agree, and by the sounds of it, it was the agent not Clowney.

The tater who owns the sub shop was taking a shot at Clowney over his speeding tickets. They should sue his azz.

I know the owner.

He's not a "tater", he's a good guy that always has a funny saying on his sign. Nothing more nothing less.

No big deal.

Sigh. We live in such a sue-happy world. It's sad really.

Well where should it stop, at a local sub shop, a regional truck stop, a national chain? He's the one that made his name, so who should profit? Read a book.. I'm sure the ones on here bitching that it's not a big deal have never been in the position Clowney is in, & all the talk about athletes being stupid w/their $, well here is an example of representation looking out for their clients financial security, no matter how petty some think it is.

I didn't even connect it to his speeding tickets until I read the article. I thought they were talking about his 40 time and general quickness for a DE.

Oh I agree completely. I was just making a joke. Would this thread be going on currently if instead of "Jadeveon Clowney sub" it was called the "Clowney Club"? I agree that a player should have the right to make profit of HIS name, but that argument goes both ways. When does the name stop becoming his? Clowney has a unique last name, probably less than 1000 US Citizens have it. But say, Michael Roth...Roth isn't as unique. Could people use his last name to make a profit?

Yeh used his name as a means to make money, that is against the law.

If they were using it in a manner that pretty much ensured it was referencing him yes
