Any one know anything about this guy? He was a monster by his highlights, but I don't remember him. He is even bigger now.

Apparently, the Vols wanted him but with this grades he couldn't offer. Well Deke jumped on him.

They have a thread on Volnation. I am not if it's against the rules to link it though, so I'll let y'all google it.

USC looking good with former Shrine Bowler

By Phil Kornblut

DL DJ Jones (6-2 305) was one of the state's top prospects in 2012 at Wren and he played in the Shrine Bowl, but after a season at East Mississippi JC, he's emerged as one of the top prospects in the country. Jones has offers from USC, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State, Ole Miss, Southern Cal, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Arkansas and LSU. Last season he had 49 tackles and 8 sacks and his high school coaches sees nothing but greatness ahead. "If he stays healthy, he will play in the NFL," Jeff Tate said. "He's so explosive. He gets great leverage. He's a man among boys. He's different from the rest of them. He runs, he's athletic and e has strong hands." Jones has not taken any visits yet and nothing is scheduled though he's looking at visiting USC for the spring game. He's in touch with Gamecock defensive line coach Deke Adams. "He said they are losing a few defensive lineman and he can see me coming in and playing inside and playing a big role," Jones said. "I wouldn't give anybody a lead right now. I'm feeling everything the same." But coach Tate thinks one team has the edge. "I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at Carolina," Tate said. "He just wants to play in the SEC. Clemson has shown some interest but they're not big on getting junior college transfers, but they do like him." Jones admitted the chance to play back at home has USC in a good spot with him.

This kid has monster size. I wouldn't mind getting a big dude to clog up the middle like him.

He'll be teammates with Sawyer right? That's gotta help us

Saw this kid in HS several times. He was d@mn good then and seems to have gotten better. Great size, strength, and speed to be so big. Plays with a mean streak. Almost certain he is the #1 rated JUCO at all positions.

This guy is a monster. Hopefully we can get him on our team.

This must be the guy that is causing Dabo to whine about other teams getting JUCOs. :)

If Dabo doesn't understand JUCO's can be absolutely useful to any program, he's an idiot. You get a guy who is 1-3 years out of HS, who participated in a collegiate level S&C program (that wasn't clemson's) who is probably more experienced and more physically ready than the true freshman you might have recruited.

Here are some great USC JUCO stories
Casper Brinkley - NFL Played for Panthers
Jasper Brinkley - NFL still playing
Rok Watkins - NFL
Byron Jerideau - NFL, but on IR right now.
Jarriel King - played in the NFL briefly, now in the CFL
and these are just the guys I can think of off the top of my head that played Pro. Then you have guys like Tony Straughter and Josh Dickerson who didn't play Pro ball, but who played quality reps for us and even started.

Outside of USC, look at Kansas State in the 90's, very early 2000's. They were winning a ton of games and Championships with heavy JUCO rosters.

Bama isn't scared to use JUCOs, that there tells you how valuable they can be.

I think he understands, I just think he is frustrated because his hands are tied, so he speaks out against JUCOs trying to argue that other teams shouldn't be using them either.

so almost everyone brings in JUCO's and we're all wrong.....Dabo would do well to keep his stupid mouth shut....every time he opens it, he looks like a fool.....

I think bringing in JUCO's is like giving kids a second chance.

I'm sure he'd like to sign a bunch of good JUCOs. Just Clemson won't let him. If Spurrier was the coach, he'd go directly to problem he wouldn't whine about other schools. Dabo doesn't have the heuvos to challenge the brass at Clemson.

so JUCO's aren't good enough for the taters....some kids struggled in high school, many times through no fault of their own, and those kids aren't good enough for them.

I don't even try to understand Clemson logic. Although whatever they are doing up there I hope it continues for a very long time

It must have something to do with the "AMAZING academic standards" at the Son of Clem University.

I played football with his dad in high school. I saw his dad at the Shrine Bowl. His dad was trying to convince the Clemson coaches to offer him, but they did not. I am assuming the since he went Juco, his grades needed a little help. He grew up not far from Clemson. If he is like his dad, he is a home boy. So I think that it will come down to USC and Clemson. Maybe his statement of wanting to play in the SEC will give us the edge, but I think that he will also look hard at Clemson. I hope he ends up a Gamecock!!!
