2016 - John Simpson

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/o/151345...ights/74687375

John is an Offensive tackle at Stall HS in North Charleston. John attended the OL/DL camp at USC during the summer and really enjoyed his time there. Coach Elliot and Coach Sands spent some time talking with him. John measures 6'4, 260 lbs. He wrestles and wears a size 18 shoe at 15 years old. He's going to be a great one because of his size and work ethic! He loves the game.

thanks green. I personally coach this young man, so I can't take credit for his athleticism, but I can tell you one thing: he is a phenomenal young man. I can only hope my son grows up to be as generous and trustworthy and respectable as he is. He does get a bit of a nasty streak on the field, I would just like to see him grow more into it.

I agree JD. He is also a wrestler, so that takes some weight away during the winter/spring. I told him if he wants to play big boy ball he needs to be 280 by the start of his junior year. He has incredible feet and hands and also really long arms. His frame could hold 320 easily.

Another gigantic sophomore in HS. He's going to be HUGE when graduates.

Noticed on a few plays in that video that after he disengages from his first assignment he let up on the play. Probably just because of his age but I'd like to see his motor continue until the whistle.

Very athletic for a kid that's still growing. Can't wait to see him as a senior. Love that he wrestles. He'll learn a lot of hand techniques. He should be highly rated as a senior.

Young man received an invite to Clem5on's junior day this weekend. Happy for him, but he's not able to go because of transportation issues.

Hey, can I volunteer to help with John? My name is John too, I'm an R.B. Stall High grad, Class of 73' and have a degree from USC! I just didn't get quiet that tall. But I did poll fault that high ... but barely ;-) Correct me if wrong, but I don't think we've had an R.B. Stall player since my good buds Joe McGregor, also a Class of 73 grad, a 6'5" DT who lived down the Street from me in Hunley Park.

He would certainly go to USC if he got an invite. Coach Elliot and Sands (primary Charleston area recruiter) are aware of him. I worked the OL/DL camps this past summer and he attended the second one. John, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to stop by and speak with "Big John" as he is called here. He hasn't gotten an invite. It doesn't help that his team was 1-9 this past season....

Probably need to be careful with that, and be sure the Compliance Office and his area recruiters clear it.

The rules involving boosters, "pre-existing" relationships, and people simply associated with a program by being a grad can be hazy.

I'd hate to see us have to back off a possibly promising player because of an arcane rule involving helping coach a player.

Just keep him out of Big Johns downtown Charleston.

absolutely no chance he visits "big johns" downtown. This young man is a model guy.

I read your previous posts about his personal fortitude. No intent on questioning John's qualities, just making fun with his knick name and a Charleston drinking establishment. Its not a bad correlation considering the bar Big Johns was named after the proprietor who was a great 1950s Giants OL named "Big John".
