Sound Bars???

I have a one year old running around the house these days and I was just curious if anyone had any experience with a sound bar. I need to get rid of my speakers on the floor because they are going to cause damage to my son's skull or he is going to damage them. However, I can't stand to watch tv or movies without them anymore. Do you still need the sub woofer with the sound bar? Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

many sound bars come with a wireless sub (still needs power, but no wire between the head (the bar) and the sub

check out this one

http://www.walmart.com/ip/VIZIO-S425...akers/23787927

its actually 5.1 surround instead of 2.1 or 3.1 like most sound bars, this one has a wireless sub and the rear channel speakers are wired back to the sub, would keep all the wires in the back of the room instead of front to back

if you want to drop about $450 then here's a sony 1000 watt surround sound system that is wireless from the head to the amp for the rear speakers (incl the sub)

Depends on the acoustics of the room really. We have one in our family room and it's sufficient for most tv and sports. For movies we have a Bose surround system and it's much better.

This has good reviews on Amazon. Kid I've listened to it in person at an hh Greg.

The company is somehow associated with Klipsch.

No receiver required. It's similar to the Bose Solo but appears to be an upgrade and has Bluetooth.

I bought a Samsung Crystal Surround Air Track wireless sound bar three weeks ago from Sam's. I paid $250.00. I have been pleased with it so far.

I have a samsung that I have had for a little over a year. Pleased with it but make sure the sub is truly wireless. Mine was advertised as wireless and it isn't. Yes the soundbar itself (which can be split into two pieces) communicates wirelessly with the sub but the sub itself isn't wireless. All three HDMI connections, the digital in, and the usb connection are all on the back of the sub. I had wanted to hide the sub on the opposite side of the living room but now it is on top of the entertainment table thing. With the tv mounted up on the wall

VIZIO makes some awesome soundbars for the price and all are pretty affordable. I bought a 29in last week for a 32in samsung and am very pleased. ALL the vizio's are rated 4-5 stars when i reviewed them . I also already had an aiwa subwoofer that plugged right into the back of it. im happy with it for the money that i spent on it

I've got a Sony SA-CT260H. I think it was around $199 and it comes with a wireless sub. I listened to it in the store compared to all of the other options and for some reason it had a much better sound.

The others seemed like the sound bar was all highs and the sub had the bass, but the Sony has a lot of low end from the soundbar alone.

The LG NB3530A is fantastic along with the Samsung HWF-455. Both are right around $250. 300 watts each, both bluetooth. The LG comes with a mount and an optical cable. I sell both regularly and highly recommend both.

I sell home theatre btw lol

I picked up an HW-f450 at Target last week. Mounted it 2nite, sounds fine. Was actually surprised at the amount of low-end. When I hooked it up, came to learn that none of my HDMI's on the TV (Samsung also) have ARC capability, so that connection was a no-go. The other options were an optical audio cord (I didn't have one handy, lol) and straight analog (headphone cord is what I call it). I went with the latter, and it worked good. Is it worth going to the optical?
