Article: Spurrier Defies Age on Recruiting Trail

Perhaps a little bit of an allusion to Pelini's negative recruiting?

"“We don’t run into much of any negative recruiting around here as SEC coaches,” Spurrier said. “We were involved with a player who was being recruited by a Big Ten school. They got negative a little bit with ‘There’s a lot of crime in Columbia, the big city. They don’t graduate their players,’ which was completely untrue. They searched for a little bit of everything but the player came with us anyways.”

A most excellent read, thanks!!! What's most exciting is he used the opportunity to speak to Atlanta area moms, dads and sons about why they might want to consider coming to Columbia and playing for him. Now he needs the Charlotte Observer to do a similar article, and the St. Pete Times for that matter ;)

Kinda obvious and not surprising. He still thinks he had the better team....probably hates USC more than any SEC team.

Haha saw that one too. Guess if you don't have a 33 year old NC trophy, you're not a "big dawg"

on the radio they said it was more than 1 big10 school but were there any players that we recruited besides mcclaine that would have been involved with big 10 recruiting?

I love the job our coaches have done in game situations, coaching up our players and recruiting. That is a pretty sweet trifecta!

I thought Pelini's attack involved an allegation we didn't have enough scholarships to give one to McClain due to Hyman's NCAA sanction (82 vs. 85). I bet it was Wisconsin. Big Ten is pretty negative toward the SEC in general. They cannot beat us on the field so they try to be slime-balls and drag us through the mud with a bunch of false, stereotyping.

"Big city"

Lincoln and Madison are both larger than Columbia.

Yep and they both have crime and both blow. Big 10 /12 wanna' be good football and believe they are until that ass gets spanked in December and January by the SEC. Pellini couldn't carry Spurrier's jock..... a
whiner , just like the rest of the big wanna' be 10.
Please you better stick to roundball. Pellini what a waste of humanity.
