Seahawks release Sidney Rice

Will be interested to see who picks him up. When not injured, Sid's proved he can get the job done.

While its virtually certain the Seahawks release Sidney Rice, they have not let him go yet. No move made at this point.

I've been hearing this for a while. Salary cap casualty, gotta pay all those defensive guys.

Maybe the Panthers can get him at a discount.

No spurprise that he's done. He was their 2nd highest cap hit (I think) last season and is always hurt.

Veteran minimum with performance laden incentives is the ony way I see the Cats making a move on Sid.

I'd love to see him back in the Carolinas even though I'm not a Panthers fan. As much as I'd love to see him in Chicago, I don't think that makes much sense with Marshall and Alshon already serving as the tall downfield threats. I grew up a Steelers fan and I could definitely see a spot for him there.

Panthers have other worries.

Re: Seahawks release Sidney Rice

This is not surprising as it seems like he is always hurt and it was a huge contract that they gave him initially.

Yes the Cats have other worries but finding a legit #1 is a major concern. Smitty should be a 2 atthis point in his career and Lafell is a maginal 3.

The Panthers need to worry about keeping the players they could lose to free agency before signing Rice.

Dolphins need to go get him.

Sidney will be in Dallas or Detroit next year - both teams need threats to take the heat off of their studs and could really use their top draft picks in other areas. Its really a bad time for him to hit the market. This years draft will rival the 1996 draft for depth at the WR position.

crazy how much talent rice has but injuries are killing him. The year with Brett Favre seems like ages ago when he dominated

I think Detroit would like to get him. They have a lot of talent at WR but could use another possesion WR. I doubt they have a ton of cap space, but I don't keep up with that stuff.

I suppose I should have qualified my statement above by saying that I am a 49ers/Panthers guy. I have a deep seated hatred of the Cowboys. I just feel sorry for Detroit.

Re: Seahawks release Sidney Rice

I don't see the cowboys taking him, unless they want him as their 3rd receiver.
I believe they're content with Terrance Williams who also makes less money.
