Byrnes HS coach to Auburn?

Auburn: Per sources, Byrnes HS (SC) head coach Bobby Bentley has been offered a position on staff at Auburn and is expected to accept it today. Will update.

Auburn has to try and learn how NOT to get caught with illegal recruiting tactics

Thought he left PC because it pulled him away from his family...guess things changed.

Bentley will be back in South Carolina within 3 years trying to get his job back at Byrnes.

So he comes back long enough to make things very uncomfortable for Chris Miller who basically leaves due to Bentleys shadow and then turns around and high tails it out of Byrnes. I sure hope the good folks of Byrnes have learned from this "character. "

BB has burned a few bridges in the past few years. I wonder if Byrnes will go back after Chris Miller or the woodruff coach.

How is that an illegal recruiting tactic?

I guess every coach that has won a few Championships now thinks they can be the next Malzahn or Morris.

I think it was a reference to the fact Byrnes gets players from different schools at times to fill needs they have and never face any punishment for it.

Bentley's youngest son and the one expected to be the next starting QB at Byrnes HS is supposed to already be an Auburn commit...not really 'illegal' but I think that is what he is referencing.

How does that correlate with Auburn recruiting violations?

Won't be playing at Byrnes cause the family is moving to Alabama. If he has the mental make up of his brother then he is going to put up stats but choke when the game is on the line and the pressure is on his shoulders. What Shuler always did.

Woodruff's Brian Lane should be the top candidate. Was the offensive coordinator when we really started our domination and his Woodruff teams has potent offenses when he had players to work with.

Typical slick move from Auburn. Hire the coach to get the kid. This is the 2nd straight year they've tried this. Guess the money was better this time. I'd be careful if I were them, I can't remember the last Byrnes QB who did anything significant at the college level.

Basically if Auburn does it, assume cheating is involved unless proven otherwise.

I hope the next coach at Byrnes is a gamecock guy. We haven't had any players from there since nick jones right?

Was this the guy who coached for a short while at Newberry, maybe PC, then bailed?

on edit: Oops, just saw post #4. Question answered.

We hire HS coaches, and assign them to off the field positions. They learn our schemes, and oversee our players. They help with recruitment knowledge. Then they leave to take promotions and the process repeats. It's a pretty good system.
