New Orleans

I'm here on a bachelor party weekend. Thursday night we hit Lake Charles to gamble and play golf Friday morning. What a wild weekend.. going out in New Orleans makes for an interesting time. Bourbon street is exactly how I imagined with all the booze, interesting people, and debauchery. I'm already hurting.

Anyone have New Orleans stories or anything to share?

Bourbon Street was the first place where I saw, in person, a woman without her top. Was 15 and our family took a vacation there over New Years. On NYE we were walking the French Quarter and a very drunk, very nice looking cougar saw me and decided to let me see the goods. Didn't even have to give her beads. I love New Orleans.

If you remember anything from New Orleans it means you didn't do it right

Great city. One of my best friends was born and raised in the Garden District.

Been there 7 time for multiple Jazz Fests and my bachelor party. At the advice of my counsel, I do not wish to discuss any of those visits to the Cresent City.

Had an Eagles fan throw a full beer can at my head on Bourbon street about 8 in the morning before the Saints Eagles game a few years ago. Hadn't even had my first bloody mary yet.

Re: New Orleans

Was there in 94. A buddy and I were stumbling around there around 3 am and I ran out of money. he said he would pay, and I would pay him back. Well, about 4 am we are standing in some courtyard when these two Af Am hookers show up. My buddy is kind of a gentlemen..so he is calling them "Ladies" or whatever. So one leans on me and says, "Hey...you wanna party somewhere?" I looked at her and said, "Honey.....look....I'm drunk, ain't got no money and I'm tired....but HE's got money!!" and pointed at my buddy. She dropped me and both of them were all over him trying to talk him into going back to the room or whatever. one of them asks why is your friend prejudiced. He's not prejudiced, he just doesn't bang hookers. They ended up leaving, and we kept on going.

Was a Junior at Carolina and there on a fraternity convention; Had a Frat Brother who broke his foot falling off a table. We loaded his shrimp po-boy up with hot sauce and darn near died laughing as he reacted as the foot started to get to him. Also about 4 am was approached by a tandem "peaches and cream" black and white hooker combo. There were about 10 of us in the room; they declined.

Lived there for years.

For the family i recommend (assuming you start from the quarter) to take the street car down St Charles to Audubon Park. Get to see se of the best of the garden district.

Strangest thing i saw: a lady (homeless?) with dreadlocks (thick ones) crossing Claiborne and i think Mt Luther King. At the end of probably 8 of her dreads each had a thin rope about two or three inches with a baby shoe at the end.

If you're a history buff that likes old war stuff, you should go check out the Battle of New Orleans site (War of 1812). We visited that one day and I thought it was neat.

If you like old guns, swords, currency, etc. you should go to the Cohen & Sons shop. I believe it's on Royal Street. They had a lot of interesting firearms from the Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

I've been there for a few conventions. The hotels I stayed at were near the French Quarter, so we spent a lot of time on Bourbon St bar crawling. That was the last time I got falling down drunk. I'm too old for that now.
