NFL Offseason Trades/Signings

8:43 p.m. -- Jason Hatcher, recently of the Cowboys, is visiting with the Seahawks. Because their defense definitely needs to get better.
7:32 p.m. -- The Saints will apparently trade -- and not release -- running back Darren Sproles per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
7:15 p.m. -- The Bears cut Julius Peppers on Tuesday night, the team announced.
6:45 p.m. -- The Raiders might spend the first day of free agency signing TWO running backs. They're also interested in Andre Brown.
6:43 p.m. -- NFL Network reports that Carolina is a "likely landing spot" for Giants free agent wideout Hakeem Nicks. He's done some good stuff in Bank of America Stadium before.
6:41 p.m. -- Quarterback Josh McCown is visiting in Tampa Bay according to reports.
6:27 p.m. -- The Steelers grabbed safety Mike Mitchell off free agency after he had a big year with the Panthers. It's a curious move since he -- and most of the Panthers secondary -- benefited from having a great pass rush in Carolina.
6:17 p.m. -- The Charlotte Observer reports that no decision will be made on Steve Smith Tuesday in free agency.
6:07 p.m. -- Offensive guard Geoff Schwartz tweeted on Tuesday afternoon that he's headed to New York to sign with the Giants. One of three Chiefs offensive linemen leaving this offseason.
6:05 p.m. -- The Colts are bringing back Ahmad Bradshaw on a one-year deal the team announced.
5:59 p.m. -- Cornerback Charles Tillman could follow Lovie Smith to Tampa Bay and will visit with the Bucs.
5:55 p.m. -- The Redskins are "losing out" on tackle Anthony Collins according to the Washington Post, and it looks like he'll be headed to Tampa.
5:50 p.m. -- The Saints, who don't have any cap space (right??), are somehow bringing in Jairus Byrd for a visit. He'd be a super fit along with Kenny Vaccaro in Rob Ryan's defense, it's just a matter of finding the money to pay him.
5:40 p.m. -- Mike Vick and the New York Jets? Sounds like a match made in heaven. According to ESPN, the Jets have serious interest in bringing in the former Eagles QB. Oh, they're also interested in Josh McCown but he's visiting Tampa first.
5:34 p.m. -- Running back Darren McFadden will re-sign with the Raiders on a one-year contract worth $4 million according to the NFL Network.
5:27 p.m. -- Former Giants DT Linval Joseph has signed with the Vikings according to Fox Sports reporter Alex Marvez.
5:21 p.m. -- Green Bay Packers TE Jermichael Finley will visit the Seattle Seahawks according to the NFL Network. He still hasn't been cleared to play after injuring his neck last season but CBSSports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora believes he will sign with Seattle.
5:19 p.m. -- Former Broncos guard Zane Beadles has signed with the Jaguars on a five-year, $30 million deal.
5:16 p.m. -- Former Raiders RB Rashad Jennings tweets that he'll be signing with the New York Giants.
5:09 p.m. -- Former Browns safety T.J. Ward has signed with the Broncos according to Adam Schefter
5:06 p.m. -- WE HAVE A TRADE! The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded QB Blaine Gabbert to the 49ers for a sixth-round pick according to Adam Schefter. The Jaguars confirmed the trade.
5:05 p.m. -- Former Saints S Malcom Jenkins signs a three-year deal with the Eagles according to Adam Schefter.
5:02 p.m. -- According to CBSSports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora, the Ravens have resigned LT Eugene Monroe for five years, $37.5 million
4:56 p.m. -- According to CBSSports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora, the Giants have re-signed S Stevie Brown to a one-year deal worth $4 million.
4:54 p.m. -- The Colts have re-signed CB Vontae Davis according to ESPN.
4:52 p.m. -- DE Willie Young and CB Walter Thurmond are visiting the Jaguars according to Rand Getlin.
4:48 p.m. -- The Falcons have picked up a few of Scott Pioli's draft picks in DE Tyson Jackson and OG Jon Asamoah. Atlanta has also signed former Dolphin Paul Soliai according to CBSSports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora
4:16 p.m. -- The Bears grabbed Lamarr Houston away from the Raiders, signing him to a five-year, $35 million deal. That's an upgrade financially over Julius Peppers.
4:15 p.m. -- The Titans landed Dexter McCluster on a three-year, $12 million deal. There is money getting spent in free agency.
4:06 p.m. -- The Cardinals shored up their left tackle position, signing Jared Veldheer to a five-year, $35 million deal. If he's healthy that's a pretty good bargain. (See: BELOW. RAIDERS. WUT.)
4:05 p.m. -- The Raiders are paying Roger Saffold $42.5 million on a five-year deal with $21 million. Breaking news: they remain the Raiders.
4:05 p.m. -- The Falcons are reportedly set to release safety Thomas DeCoud.
3:55 p.m. -- The Cowboys have reportedly released star DE DeMarcus Ware.
3:05 p.m. -- The Broncos brought back wideout Andre Caldwell on a two-year deal, which Caldwell confirmed on Twitter.
2:55 p.m. -- Phil Dawson tweets that he's coming back to San Francisco.
2:49 p.m. -- Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports Karlos Dansby got four years, $24 million from the Browns with $14 million guranteed and $10 million in year one. Love Dansby but geez Browns what are you doing?
2:43 p.m. -- Julian Edelman is going to hit the market after not reaching a deal with New England according to multiple reports.
2:05 p.m. -- Twitter is in serious danger of being released after a free agency power outage on Tuesday.
1:20 p.m. -- Atlanta announced a three-year extension with defensive tackle Jonathan Babineaux. Smart move by Thomas Dimitroff and the Falcons, who desperately need bodies on the d-line.
1:05 p.m. -- Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens would be a major player for Steve Smith if he's released by Carolina. Would be an interesting/good fit actually.
12:50 p.m. -- The Browns are reportedly "close to a deal" with safety Donte Whitner. They've also been in the mix on the Revis rumors given all their cap room and draft picks.
12:35 p.m. -- The Lions and Joique Bell agreed on a two-year extension that will pay the running back $7 million and give him $4.3 million in guaranteed money, per Adam Caplan of ESPN. The running back market is crazy supressed.
12:28 p.m. -- Panthers OL Geoff Hangartner is retiring via the Charlotte Observer. He joins Jordan Gross and possibly Travelle Wharton as Carolina linemen who could walk away. Looking like a tough offseason for Cam Newton.
12:25 p.m. -- The Cowboys and DeMarcus Ware are reportedly in a "standoff" on the defensive end's contract. He doesn't want to take a paycut and they want him to. It could end up resulting in Ware hitting the market.
12:11 p.m. -- The Vikings announced they brought back Matt Cassel (the news had been previously reported). Which means, sorry Adrian Peterson. No Michael Vick.
11:59 a.m. -- Jason La Canfora breaks down why veteran wideout Steve Smith, rumored to be on the block in Carolina, could end up staying with the Panthers.
11:55 a.m. -- The Texans have released tight end Owen Daniels, as expected. Daniels could be a sneaky smart veteran add for a team that needs receiving help.
11:45 a.m. -- The Buccaneers are making the biggest splash early and have a deal in place that will give ex-Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson a five-year, $43 million contract. Big money for a guy with 3.5 sacks last year although he fits Lovie Smith's scheme well.
11:33 a.m. -- The Giants inked running back Peyton Hillis to a two-year deal. Total meh signing but good for their depth in the backfield.
11:25 a.m. -- The Patriots have reportedly offered wideout Julian Edelman a three-year deal according to NFL Network. They're playing it cautiously as free agency approaches ...
11:01 a.m. -- The Redskins brought back linebacker Perry Riley. Productive player and they're keeping their own guys. I don't know who this team is, but if you see the Redskins, tell them hello.
10:53 a.m. -- The Jaguars released Justin Forsett. Not shocking: he had all of six carries in 2013.
10:45 a.m. -- The Colts locked down kicker Adam Vinatieri on a two-year deal before he could hit free agency. Good work for a 41-year-old if you can find it.
10:37 a.m. -- The Redskins have agreed to a deal with receiver Andre Roberts. He's not close to a No. 1 but he's a nice value signing for them. Nice haul for him too: four years, $16 million per Jason La Canfora.
9:15 a.m. -- Another offseason, another Darrelle Revis drama. He's on the trade market and could be released. The Patriots and Eagles would reportedly be interested in Revis if the Buccaneers do end up cutting him.
9:01 a.m. -- Sure looks like Branden Albert, as CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora's reported, will end up signing with the Dolphins. His Twitter account suggests as much.

2 great trades by the 49ers today. Gabbert for a 6th round pick is perfect especially when you consider their staff's success with developing QBs. With any luck they will have a top end backup QB due to this. Then they go and get Martin who may have questions mentally but he is a starting caliber OT in the NFL.

with this not being a deep wr class and it being a deep wr draft teams may be inclined if they cant scoop up the wr's without injury issues to just wait until after the draft to see if they want to sign someone like him.

He's been linked to the Panthers. Coach Pete Carroll also didn't rule out a return to the Seahawks. Injury-prone Rice will likely have to settle for a one-year deal.

I think it's because of the multiple torn ACLs. If I'm not mistaken he has torn his ACL twice in the NFL and once in college.

I know I'm bias, but he is the type of WR a team like the Redskins should get. He'd be cheap and give them a tall WR to go along with their smaller quick guys.

When healthy, yes he is. If he has a half way descent QB throwing him the ball, he can make all the catches.

Re: NFL Offseason Trades/Signings

actually i think that was the first time sidney tore his acl, he had knee injuries/issues his 2nd year in minnesota and last offseason, but not the acl. he had a solid 2012 season with 50 catches and 7 td's, but with his injury history teams are probably wondering what toll the injuries have had on him even if he can stay healthy. id say teams are looking at him as a no.2 and with healthier options out there he'll have to wait.

that said i think hes still a good receiver with his size, hands, and catch radius. i hope he ends up in a good spot.
