It lost me when it said NC vinegar based BBQ was better than SC mustard based BBQ.

It's absolutely right on that! Vinegar based BBQ is just as much eastern SC as it is NC.

It was the prevailing style for pork in the Laurens-Greenwood area as well.

Mustard is mostly just a midlands thing I take it. I'd never seen mustard based until I moved to Columbia.

My dad cooked whole hogs, and he made a vinegar-mustard-red & black pepper sauce that was to die for! Sadly, I don't know the exact recipe, but I can still taste it after 40+ years.

Don't hear much about Wise's BBQ on CT, but they have excellent mustard base Q. They are between Clinton and Newberry on 76, open only on Friday and Saturday.

Two things on bbq:

1- SC bbq is better than NC bbq
2- Vinegar based bbq is better than all others.
