Stone Brewing Looking for East Coast Location...Maybe Myrtle Beach

This would be awesome for the state. I'd personally love it. I know where I would be during happy hour. Hopefully the state will ease some of their distribution laws and Stone likes what Myrtle has to offer. There is a facebook page set up to gather support. If you like craft beer and would like a major craft beer destination in our state, take a second to like the page. |

Stone brewing at the Redneck Riviera!
They make some good beer. I doubt they would use beach water untreated for brewing. But that's nothing that can't be overcome with a good water treatment system. Would be good the the economy and tourism. |

I personally don't think they'll come because of transportation issues but they have said they like Myrtle because of the 12-14 million tourists we get per year. It would definitely add more tourism. With Asheville getting Oskar Blues, New Belgium, and Sierra Nevada, I'll be taking a trip there to see those places plus their other great local breweries. Again, I really hope it happens but I don't see it happening. |

theres also a company that makes the brewing equipment that should be open by then within about a half hour of the beach

MB is a cesspool. Wish they would go to charleston instead.
I could also see an NC town winning this. They do not have the same tourism numbers but they have more relaxed laws to promote breweries. |
Re: Stone Brewing Looking for East Coast Location...Maybe Myrtle Beach
Nit sure why they would go there... no interstates, bad water, etc... I wish they would go to Columbia or Spartanburg...

I truly wish they'd come to Oconee County. Our economy would absolutely boom from the tourism it would bring. Our county is mainly plant/manufacturing, a little farm/orchard/nature stuff, and retail... nothing exactly unique. There's plenty of open spaces to build a really nice brewery. Plus they'd be close to a major university town, a very rapidly-growing area (GSP), and within 2 hours (give or take) of Athens, Atlanta, Charlotte, Knoxville, and Columbia.
Interstate 85 runs through the lower portion of our county, and with 26, 77, and the spurs off 85 in Atlanta not too far away... it'd make sense logistically. Especially considering the main routes out of Myrtle Beach are 501 and 17, which get ungodly crowded. Just thinking and wishing out loud, so to speak. I know it'll never happen here. |

For what it is worth, this was in my Local paper the other day as well.

Re: Stone Brewing Looking for East Coast Location...Maybe Myrtle Beach
There are a lot of cities hoping to get the business. Charlotte, Greensboro, Norfolk, some place in Tennessee I believe just to name a few. I still can't get over the myrtle beach hate on this site. Since stone is looking at myrtle beach and not charleston, columbia, or Spartanburg, I would think as a South Carolinian you would support this rather than resent it. I'd love to see it anywhere in sc. Just happens to be they're looking in my backyard.
