"Work hard, play hard" is a motto for many college students. It's important to study, but it's also important to work out and avoid the Freshman 15! These schools have the best venues when it comes to sports and athletics.

USC ranks 16th on this list...

What the heck is the criteria?

(Being that WVU is #9, Iowa #10 & GA Southern #12).

So you want an objective review of something completely subjective?

We have nice facilities, not great, but nice....each year we continue to make improvements/upgrades. It's impossible to rank various schools around the country. The only thing objective is how much each school has spent over the last 1,3,5 and 10 years.

Fair ? The status of athletic facilities progrestion, $$$ spent and how these improvements affect the impression made on visiting prospects is a frequent topic and or point of reference for discussion across boards to include CockyTalk. it seems recruits compare and essencialy "rank" the facilities.

Plainly we have made and are making improvements and plainly there are many more needing to be made. Reason directs us to presume others are making improvements as well.

I am seeking any information that makes subjective rankings or ratings and, if possible, tangible information such as $$ spent overall, $$ in the last say 5 or so years and what the program has allocated ongoing.

I meant to use objective as follows:
" based on facts rather than feelings or opinions : not influenced by feelings. philosophy : existing outside of the mind : existing in the real world."
I may have been better using unbiased, I'm not sure.
Finally I would welcome a subjective review of programs facilites nationally, by region or conf.
Anyhow, sorry for the confusion. WVP

Agreed. .... You could take 20 different "reliable" sources and have them
do top 20/30/40 lists and each poll would be almost totally different. Ranking
things like this, Best intro, Best Tailgating Experiance, best (blah, blah, blah)
is subjective and would ALWAYS reflect the opinion of the person heading
the committee for drawing up the criteria for the list

As long as we have Facilities that reflect the Program and the School
well, AND we continue to build new facilities as Needs arise, and continue
to upgrade current facilities... We're in good shape. I know when Steve
Spurrier took over the coaching job, the lists that were presented in
regards to our facilities usually had us ranked next to, or last in the SEC.
Now we are closer to the center (based on most opinions), and that alone
says that we have made huge strides to upgrade the facilities under
Hyman / Pastides, and all indications are that Pastides / Tanner are going
to continue that line into the immediate future.

We'll never surpass schools like Alabama, Florida, Tex A&M, UT ......
Too much money, and the perception of "Tradition Rich Programs" will
make it near impossible for us to ever get on that level in the SEC. All
we can do is continue to improve and "compete" with the best even though
overtaking them is not an option in our lifetime anyway.

If any of us hit the lottery it better become an option in our lifetime :)

Re: South Carolina facility status.

The best thing about our facilities is that they're improving. We must continue to have constant improvement across the board to keep pace with the others. If you're not moving forward, you're backing up.

Re: South Carolina facility status.

The focus should be on constantly improving regardless of where people rank the facilities.

Being midway through isn't a good thing when the bottom of the barrel of the SEC is improving their facilities in all aspects. 10 years from now where will we be if we don't keep going? It's a race in the SEC and being content shouldn't be optional.

I think of it like the Space Race.

Had Spurrier not come here, our football program would be bankrupt. But I agree, we do need to keep upgrading every year. I guess we'll just have to keep winning games in order to keep up with this arms race
