Detox Diet

So I've been lifting weights pretty heavily for about 6 months now and the last few weeks I've been taking a pre-workout. When the preworkout runs out I'm wanting to do some kind of detox diet to cleanse my system and start fresh and change some of my eating habits. Sugars in particular are something I struggle with, and this one is supposed to be designed to help break sugar addiction.

Just curious to know if anyone else has tried this exact diet or others and what your experiences are. I know I can't just go back to my old habits and expect to maintain any weight lost, I'm just looking for something as a kick start and to help me break some of my willpower/self control/bad habit type issues.

I don't know about that one, but my wife and I started on a 28 day detox diet through a company called Arbonne. Basically they send a shopping list as well as all the supplements that will use. Now we are only on day 5 and I have not cheated one time but sometimes the cravings are strong. I am sure that it will yield good results, but thus far all I really feel is dehydrated and low on energy. The diet is not all that fun as there is a lot of repetition and frankly some of the things I have to eat/drink do not taste very good. I will say however, that as early as day 3 I felt a lot of my bloatedness go away and honestly the one thing I thought was going to be the hardest to give up (soda) has been the easiest. What I crave the most is meat! (No giggity)

Good luck if you do it...I wish that my wife would not have chosen a 28 day one!

I did QWLC and that was the best one ever. Lost a lot of weight. It is very similar to the caveman diet.

I don't think you need to get gimmicky in your approach to a "detox" diet. As hard as it is (and it is VERY difficult) you should just work towards eating "cleaner". Fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, nuts, water, and limit your carbs and sugar.

By the time it is over though you will hopefully form a new habit of wanting to eat well and maintain your body... the hardest part is usually the first 10 days or so. Good luck to ya!

I felt like this one wasn't overly gimmicky. Some of the ones out there are like "eat a banana and 4 tomatoes for lunch" and weird stuff like that.

The hardest thing for me in eating better is self control. It doesn't help that I live with my gf who is skinny and she eats cookies, carbs, and ice cream a lot. When that stuff is around the house it is hard to say no. Guess I have to work on my self control...
