Scouting the Wildcats

Just from a quick glance at their stats...they Cats can score runs.
They average 9.7 runs per game
We average 6.8

AJ Reed is their big bat, with 9 HRs, 31 RBI and .403 average.
Austin Cousino and Michael Thomas are the other two big bats (both bat over .400 and have a combined 39 RBI and 5 HR)

Staff ERA-2.7
Our ERA-1.36

Reed, Chandler Sheppard and Dylan Dwyer look to be their top pitchers.

Kentucky looks like they have good starters, but lack when they get into the bullpen.

Here is the biggest telling stat to me though
Kentucky boasts a .966 fielding percentage (28 errors in 21 games)
South Carolina has a .980 fielding percentage (14 errors in 19 games)

As always, this game will come down to pitching depth and defense...I give us the edge in both categories...I do think Kentucky will take a game, and will score some runs...

They did beat Virginia to start the year, but lost 2-of-3 to Alabama last weekend...outside of that, no remarkable teams on their schedule.

We beat them up here at Upstate beginning of the season.

If were "on", we should sweep them.

I think so.
Interested to see how Montgomery does.
Has been shaky in two of this last three starts.

I feel good though with Wynkoop and Crowe on the mound.

Cousino and Reed are both left-handed batters...but the majority of their hitters are righties (7 of their top 10 bat from the right). I think Wynkoop and Montgomery will do pretty well with their lineup...how they do against Reed and Cousino could decide the series.

Kentucky's best chance to win may be against Crowe, simply from matchup, and paired with Crowe's youth...though so far this year he has pitched far beyond his years.

As you said, if we are on, we can sweep Kentucky...but if they play how they did against game 1 of Ole Miss, they will lose a game.

I hope J Mont can get tweaked back into form Friday especially with right hand batters like you said. He needs a good solid performance against rightys.

They're a punk team, the biggest one in the SEC

I worry about Montgomery because he just hasn't seemed to have his best stuff his last couple of starts. And Wyncoop didn't look great Saturday. Crowe has been the steadiest of the three and the more he pitches the more mature he looks. I just hope we can get five or six quality innings out of our starters because I think we have a pretty good set up guy and closer.

We haven't played well in Lexington in our last two trips...just
take series and I'll be happy
