Basketball seating

After talking to Clemson fans(they had their largest and most rowdy crowds of the year for their 3 NIT games because all seats were sold on a first come basis), I wish that there would be some way for at least the first 10-15 rows of the CLA be sold on a first come, game day basis. I'm tired of seeing the empty seats around the court for each game. The rowdy, gun ho fans would be at courtside early, creating a more itimidating home court advantage. The high dollar donors would still have good seats but would be out of camera angles that show them sitting on the rear or worse, not even there.

:clap::clap::clap: WELL SAID ! Unfortunatley we have had this same song and dance many times. I did hear FM reference this once as well. So maybe he sees that things need to be changed. We have to change the culture. Kids on recruiting trips probably love places like Duke( atmosphere wise) because of all the hell raising right by the court! I would . #Pumpedup

I was able to walk up to the box office about 10 minutes before the Alabama game and get seats in section 105, row 5. Don't know if it was just the best available or if a season ticket holder gave them up because they weren't going or what. Seemed like first come, first serve to me though.

Granted, there were a few rows of the padded folding chairs, which might be what you're talking about, in front of the stadium seating. Good luck getting the big time donors to give up those seats.

There is a ticket exchange program, so since there were no season tix available in the lower bowl, I would assume that this was the case in this instance.

Good to know. Thanks.

Judging by the lack of people around us, I hope most people take advantage of the exchange program when they can't attend.

It would be nice if more season ticket holders would use this benefit provided by the ticket office...I guess they can afford to eat their tickets...I sure couldn't.

It would be nicer if they showed up to all of the games.

I'm hoping next year this isn't a concern. We start winning games early and I'm sure those seats will be full. Our fan base is dying to support a winner(literally) and if we can rack up some big wins at home and on the road, we'll average over 15,000 a game. If we can compete for the SEC, crack the top 25, there's no doubt in my mind we will sell out a large portion of our SEC home games. Gotta start winning and winning early in the year and the culture will change before our very eyes.

In a couple of years, they might be calling us Frank's Frenzies!

I liked the idea of throwing a banner over the upper deck and force all those fans to move to the bottom bowl. It makes a lot of sense to me right now.

I wouldn't be surprised at all.

I honestly think next year will be the year we turn heads. I'm not talking about an upset here and there. If we stay healthy and we bring in a couple of more recruits that can contribute their freshman year, the team can compete next year at a high level. We will be a heavy junior laden team with a senior PG and lots of sophomores that gained valuable experience their first year. The team sounds more positive now than any other year in recent memory heading into the off-season. If the fans support the team from the offset, the sky is the limit in 2014/15.

Yes...they packed their stadium out because they gave tickets away essientially...and don't believe the BS they made it back on concessions.

I still say our biggest problem is we play in the CLA...right now, the demand isn't there to justify having an arena that big...but, if we start winning, people will come.

I do like the idea of use a banner in the upper deck to get the lower bowl full, at least until there is a clear demand for upper deck seating being needed.

ALso, I'd like to see the big donor seats courtside get moved (good luck with that I know) to get the students right on the floor. I remember when I sat as a student, and the donors NEVER STOOD UP or made ANY NOISE.

Re: Basketball seating

You can't do that; the lower level is sold out with season tickets.

It's only a problem because our Bball program has been abysmal for so long. I don't remember anyone complaining about the environment of the CLA when we beat #1 Kentucky. I think the CLA is awesome, we just have to become a contender, year in and year out. End of story.

I know...I said those exact words.
Thanks for repeating the obvious.

No, you didn't say those exact words. Try again, Amigo.

This maybe a little off topic, and I'm new so don't kill me for asking. Is it this difficult to get good seats for the Women's team? And realistically, how hard do you think it will be next year?

It is not difficult. Tickets are available at the box office for every game. Most of the seats are General Admission, so if you get your ticket and arrive early, you'll get a great seat.

I expect more seats will be sold next year, but there will be tix to purchase. CLA is a large venue for women's basketball.
