Civil War. Always loved that song from GnR. Still one of my faves. Never got much attention like their other hits but I loved the song. A bit political but a great song.

Thank you for your comments. I repped your comment because you gave a reason for voting the way you did.

I also always enjoyed the song.

Civil war is a good song. Yesterdays sounds too whiny.

I love civil war. Probly one of my favs from use your illusions. My wife loves yesterdays so right off the bat it makes me not like it and I agree about it sounding whiny.

Civil War was to Guns n Roses, as what Gimme Shelter was to The Rolling
Stones. It was the song that took GnR from "hot New Artists" to A ROCK
N ROLL FORCE". Brought them up from, those new guys to Serious Rock Band.
It was their "coming of age song"

I still think that Sweet Child o Mine was the best song they ever did, and
it was so strong that I consider it to be one of the top 10-15 Rock songs
ever written, but beyond that, I think Civil War was one hell of a tune from
the band I consider the be the best post 70s Rock artists even to this day.

I'd take Civil War between these two

Civil war is my choice between those two, but there are many that are better. Rocket Queen is probably my favorite GnR song closely followed by Pretty Tied Up.

Once again, Spurt and I are in agreement. I like Sweet Child O Mine the best. Civil War is probably #2 or #3 (I like Patience a lot too).

Rocket Queen is another good, underrated song by GnR.

Paradise city is my favorite gnr tune and also one of the first riffs I learned on the guitar way back when. Hard to beat most of the music from appetite.

Re: Music Battle: Guns N'Roses Edition

I generally prefer to remember Appetite for Destruction when I remember GNR--highlights being Rocket Queen, It's So Easy, Night train, and My Michele--but Civil War is pretty great. That song, as well as the cover of knockin' on Heaven's Door, had been part of the live shows during the Appetite days, so I don't associate it as much with the Use Your Illusion phase of GnR, which had its moments but always felt a bit overcooked. Once Izzy left, I stopped paying attention.

What's so civil about war anyway?

I chuckle at that line...I don't know why.

Civil War, without question. The quote by S. Martin at the beginning has always resonated with me since I heard it for the first time, for reasons I truly don't know. Just a quote I love. The fact it starts off the song just makes me love the song more. The simple acoustic guitar in the intro, Duff's bass fills to back it, the build up, the lyrics, Slash's utter abuse of the wah pedal in the solos... I absolutely love the track. Any time I catch it on the radio, the volume gets cranked up.

Civil War because it reminds me of "Sympathy for the Devil"

A failure to communicate
