Didn't see the scrimmage but heard spurrier named orth the #2 qb ahead of mitch based on the scrimmage. Interesting considering mitch's numbers looked better on paper. Gotta trust Spurrier though

Like what Shaw did in the bowl game when he caught a TD? That's the only thing I can think of

Re: Anybody go to the scrimmage today?

yeah, i was going to ask him is he wanted to change that up just a little bit, but now it all makes sense.
sounds like dylan looked very good. don't understand the thing with mitch. looks like he was awesome. unless sos just see's something in him, and wants to really light a fire under his ass.

sounds like it was a good scrimmage. that is great in so many ways, considering that the juniors were there for junior day.

starting to scratch my head about these walkons. you always hear a little bit about one here or there, but from what i am reading on several different boards, the walkons are looking as good, if not better than a lot of the vets. and not just one, but several of them. wow.

Re: Anybody go to the scrimmage today?

According to my tweets, Spurrier likes how quickly Orth gets the pass out while Connor still holds onto the ball too long....that's the only criticism I saw on Connor, although he is a RS-Freshman this year. In previous practices SOS commented on how Orth throws the prettiest ball out there. He throws a tight spiral, which gets SOS's juices flowing....

I was working the scrimmage today (I'm an AT student).

It started out as a reverse to Pharoah and he threw it across the field to Orth, but the defense read it well. The defender tipped it instead of going for the INT and Orth caught it off the tip and walked into the end zone. The entire offense went crazy, it was pretty awesome.

Don't pay attention to that INT credited to Orth. Reports say it hit Brent in the hands and he deflected it to the defender.

Re: Anybody go to the scrimmage today?

yeah, but you do have to pay attention to 5-8 for 95 yards. that still sounds a lot better than 6-13 for 89 yards. that's like 70 something percent completion percentage against less than 50 percent. i'm still scratching my head on this one. maybe sos will change his mind after looking at the film.

I didn't see the scrimmage, but your post assumes the completion percentages of each were due only to the accuracy of the throws of each QB. What if all 13 attempts were on target but the receivers dropped the ball several times? Then on the other side, 4 of the 5 completions were because of spectacular efforts from the receivers. Wouldn't that make the raw numbers not quite as important? Again, I'm not saying that IS what happened, simply mentioning the possibility that the numbers don't always tell the whole story.
