Where will we be preseason with Aja

I think there would be no reason with the players we have back and with the players we have coming in we should not be the number 1 ranked team. If Aja joins we will win a few national championships and undo the UConn domination. It will happen....

Easily inside the top ten..not sure what other teams have coming back

UCONN will be #1 til they get dethroned. I think preseason top 5 is a very real possibility.

I have no desire to be ranked #1 in pre-season . Don't see any benefit in that at all .

Just for starters UConn, UNC, should be above us. I think we will be anywhere from 5-10 and should be there. We have to prove we can get to A final four before anyone will rank us #1 preseason and it should be that way.

Re: Where will we be preseason with Aja

Yep no way at all we will be preseason no 1 - UConn will lose 2 starters, but will still have Stewart, Jefferson, and Mosquedo-Lewis returning. They also have a top class incoming with all 4 of their commitments being 5* prospects.

USC is still being built, but it likely should be a top 10 program next pre-season, considering it finished in the top 10 this season and returns all of it's top players. That's even without Wilson. Notre Dame, Baylor, Stanford, and Louisville will take hits due to top players leaving. But UConn now is where UT once used to be: you have to prove it on the court to pass them in the rankings...

Top 5, but not above UConn. Not sure why that guy isn't getting offers for major men's programs.

We will be top 5, without a doubt, but we won't be number 1, which is fine. We play at UCONN in December, so we'll know where we stand.

Re: Where will we be preseason with Aja

IMO our biggest needs for next season is:

1) Both Sessions and Dozier improve on their contributions to the team as starters, or they may not be starters for long. In the 5 losses USC suffered last season to 4 opponents, Sessions and Dozier COMBINED for 6 ppg, 5 rpg, 3 apg, and collectively shot 10 for 57 (17.5%) from the field. Sessions was 3 for 28 herself (10.7%). If USC wants to truly live amongst the elite in the nation next season, they will need dependable contributions from ALL FIVE STARTERS. That doesn't mean each of the 5 score 20 ppg all season long, but if we expect to compete for SEC titles, #1 seeds, and Final Fours, we're going to be playing against the elite in the nation often to get there, and they will collapse into our post players and force our Gs and perimeter players to score from the outside.

This past season, against our toughest opponents, we fared poorly at it, and it cost us. All 4 opponents that best us 5 times were quality opponents: they ALL played in the NCAAT, and ALL made the Sweet Sixteen. TWO of them made the Elite Eight, and UT was a #1 Seed. All the losses were very close contests with only two of them being by 10+ pts, and those were by 10 and 12 pts. So we were in all of those gms, despite having bad gm efforts in all of them. Having just a little bit of outside scoring presence in those 5 games may have helped pull the pressure off of our young post players, and given us a better chance to compete. We'll need both Sessions and Dozier to step up next season, or perhaps step aside for...

2) Our incoming Gs Cuevas and Duckett provide immediate offensive contributions from the perimeter. Both are highly rated prospects that can - in their own right individually - be impact players for USC next season. If for no other reason, because USC's needs that they can address is so obvious. Alaina was rated as a prep prospect around where both Bianca and Kaydra are in their class, although she just missed out on getting her 5th star. She wasn't even a starter for USC, but due to USC having little to no prior post presence, she was able to stride in and improve USC's offense dramatically. Both Bianca and Kaydra are very good perimeter shooters, so hopefully they can impact the team in the same fashion, even if they don't become starters next season.

If those two can contribute immediately, IMO our team will be more balanced offensively which will prevent opponents from game-planning our top players out of the equation, and give us a better chance to compete against the most talented, deepest teams. And of course adding A'ja Wilson to the class will add even greater impact to it, as she's physically gifted enough to transition back and forth from the perimeter, AND provide instant help in the paint should opponents successfully blanket Ibiam, Coates, Welch, or White. But Khadijah and Asia need to take strides this off-season, or they may end up becoming depth on the roster IMO...

I agree with most of your post . But as far as guards contributing, I wouldn't count out Doniyah Cliney . I trust Dawn Staley's evaluation more than any of the so-called recruiting experts . Not only is Cliney a big guard who can play defense , she may have a better outside shot than some realize . I was reading an account of one of her high school playoff games not long ago . Her team had a big offensive spurt late in the game , and the write up said it was led by three consecutive shots from the corner by Doniyah Cliney . If she can play 'D' and make a few shots she's got a chance to play some .

I definitely agree with this and shouldn't have left her out.....she's a 4-star prospect on several online sites, and will hopefully be a contributor. I will take any and all comers next season. Our perimeter defense by the guards fell off last season from what we got regularly from Sutton, Grant, and Walker. Team steals and turnovers forced on the perimeter dropped off substantially. I also will say I was impressed by Olivia Gaines' contributions both defensively and offensively and hope to see it continue next season if not improve. We'll need more perimeter presence on both sides of the court next season to take the next step....

Do we have home-and-home with UConn - they come to our place the following year?

Re: Where will we be preseason with Aja

They should be Top 5 with or without A'ja (of course we hope she comes). Only losing one senior returning 3 ALL-SEC performers plus top 5 recruiting class. Should look something like this.

1. UConn
2. UNC
3. USC
4. Notre Dame
5. Tennessee

2 and 3 could switch depending on Ms. Wilson's commitment.

The neat thing about college basketball, particularly womens, is that when you get to be good, the big boys (girls) tend to play you.

That's a great home and home. hope we can take them.

To be the best, you have to beat the best. We also need to lead the country in attendance next season. We can do it.
