I'd say the fault lies with the company that is contracted to manage the cheerleaders and not the team. The Bills should just fire this company and handle hire the cheerleaders themselves.

I don't think any NFL cheerleaders are paid. The Redskins cheerleaders get paid appearance fees for attending various public events but I think that's about it.

A good friend of mines little sister is one of the girls suing. Apparently they really are super underpaid and their contracts are pretty crazy.

Most cheerleaders get anywhere from $25-50 per game..

But let's get real, they are out there for one of 2 reasons... (A).. Catch the eye of a football player, or (B). Get discovered by a modeling agency...

Most jobs in America come with some sort of income. These NFL teams can well afford to pay these women a decent salary.

Agreed. I don't get what is so difficult about paying an hourly wage like what would be expected. They do appearances, etc. I know in Jax, the girls go through suites peddling calendars and such.

Maybe if they got a free education it would be alright.

I think it's fair that they should get paid, I just don't see how you can sign up to do it for free and then sue after you've done it. If you aren't getting paid anyways, what are they going to do if you don't show up for a game or appearance, fire you?

They should have their uniforms paid for paid hourly with some form of per diem to cover travel costs. Can't speak for the Bills but the Top Cats say on their audition site that this is a part-time job but all of the Top Cats are either students or professionals. Still smells of entitlement.

While I do think they should get paid better I don't think they have the right to sue. They are paid for games. The lowest I have seen is the Raiderettes at $75 a game as well as 2 tickets and a parking pass for every home game. That is $7.50 an hour for a 10 hour shift. That is more than minimum wage with 2 tickets on top. They are paid by the teams to perform at games. I am paid to do my job not paid to do the training for my job which is what practice is after all. Mandatory appearances are what is going to get the teams in trouble for not paying not practice

I'm curious to know what you do for a living and how you would compare your job training to their practices. With the average hourly/salary job you actually will be paid during a training period when you first take your job, and I can't say I've heard of a job where the company stops paying you if later training is required. Let's say you work in an office setting where some specific program is required of your job function, but the company that makes that program went under and now your company has bought some new software and you have to learn how to use that before you can really be productive again. This software is very complex and not anything like the old one. It will take you at least a week or two to learn the ins and outs, and you're in a class with 15 other employees, so regardless of how quickly you pick it up you will be forced to go at the pace of everyone else. Would you expect them to stop paying you for a couple weeks while you were learning this new software?

Calif min wage has been $8.00 an hour since 2008. Based on you math, they have the right to sue now.
